Time to up the tax rate on the uber wealthy back into the 90% range like it was back in the 1950s. They have been getting a free ride for too long. Pay down the national debt with their tax contributions.

Damn right. I was a 50s/60s kid and we roamed the neighborhood at will on our bikes and on foot. No adult supervision required. Just our faithful dog.

I thought there was a requirement that after the text was finalized it had to be posted for 24 or 48 hrs before a vote could be scheduled. Maybe they can waive this requirement?
Probably should be more like it has to be posted unchanged for a time of 5 minutes per page to allow for actual reading.

They don't even give the legislators time to read it before scheduling a vote. The legislative staff writes it all up, and as soon as they are done writing they schedule a vote. Speaker Johnson did NOT want members to read it before voting. Just "Trust Me" it is what you wanted ...

I would expect that staffers at the CBO would not give political contributions to Republicans OR Democrats, in an effort to remain non-partisan. So she is half right I suspect.

So wait.
Does Russia now need to compensate Ukraine for all the hospitals Russia has destroyed?
And how about all the residential non military structures destroyed by Russia?
And the non military power plants?

Just wait until one of those ICE agents panics and opens fire on a bunch of unarmed civilians. If you thought Kent State or the Rodney King LA riots were bad you ain't seen nothin' yet.

Don't give a meaningless apology written by your PR people.
ACT.
Vote against the "Big Beautiful Bill".
If you had any self respect, that is what you would do.
Vote in the interests of the people of your state.
Not in the interest of Trump's billionaires.

ICE does not care about going after violent criminal undocumented immigrants anymore, because that takes too much work.
It's all in the numbers now. Meet the Trump Quota.
So ICE lies in wait for non-violent immigrants that are following the law to check in.
The cruelty is the point.

Any signed 'deals' with POTUS are meaningless. They do not have the force of law unless ratified by congress.

Golden Dome will be a boondoggle for a few years wasting billions and billions of dollars. And it will come up empty because it is not technically feasible in any practical way.
Like Reagan's "Star Wars" launched in 1983 that basically went nowhere except for spending lots of money.

Ok, but that is not what you said: "And if the college still provides good jobs afterwards most won't care at all."
College does not provide good jobs, unless you work there.
College provides the education.
Companies provide the jobs.

Then I feel sad for them. They are financially locked into attending schools that are basically captured by the whims of the MAGA Republican party in Texas. They will only learn what MAGA wants you to learn.

How many students at a university end up working for the university? Not very many I suspect. Most will go into the work force, not stay around as university employees (ie, TAs or professors).
comment in response to

So why would any student attend a college or university in Texas in the future? All you are going to be taught is what the Texas government wants you to learn. Nothing more, nothing less.

The only way to 8647 is via impeachment in the House and conviction in the Senate, or by invoking the 25th Amendment.
None of these are going to happen with the current House or Senate or Cabinet.
Federal judges cannot remove a sitting potus.

Trump is basically an autosign machine. He gets handed something to sign he has not read and does not understand. And signs it like a robot would.

Wrong, wrong, and even more wrong. You have no idea what you are talking about. The supply chain Apple needs for the iPhone components does not exist in the US. The cheap labor needed to assemble an iPhone does not exist in the US.

It is pure nonsense that helps literally no one. It is a feel good sound bite that has no impact in the real world for most workers earning tips. Increasing the minimum wage would have an impact, but they will not do that.

Naw they don't want to kill us. Their major donors want to make more money, and all these regulations cost them profit. Follow the money. Whether people get hurt or not from toxic pollution just does not matter to them. All that matters is the higher profit margin.

Putin is literally creaming in his jeans at what Trump is doing to destroy America and our influence in the world. Trump's actions are far beyond what Putin could have ever hoped for. Trump is the secret hidden insider plant that Putin and Russia always wanted.

Well at least now it is 100% obvious on how to identify ICE officers. They are the ones hiding under masks like bank robbers.
