And that’s just within artists who actually make their own stuff & are actually there sphere. You also have to fight with the dropshippers and proxies. I feel like both new and existing artists are going to get edged out entirely for folks like that & ppl aren’t going to realize until it’s too late

It’s so rough. I had my first con in years recently and even in a tiny random anime con AA I was aggressively outpaced in all art/merch things. Like if I’m looking dated and amateur with my 5 new things + old con stock that took me years to design what hope do new folks have?

Also I really don’t think you should be throwing stones like that when you live/draw in a 90s indie comic style glass house. You can’t call cal arts style overdone when you draw in a style that’s been overdone for decades. Everyone has stylistic preferences & influences but have some self awareness.
