People who abstained from voting to decriminalise abortion: -Wes Streeting (health secretary) -Bridget Phillipson (women and equalities minister) -Rosie Duffield (top feminist and woman defender)

Giving the racists what they want again

Boiling with rage hearing on the radio that Labour is welcoming in Refugee Week with the announcement that instead of asylum hotels they’ll be expanding the Disastrous Dehumanising & MORE EXPENSIVE “Mass” accommodation sites at places like ex-army bases. There are not enough facepalms.

Lucky he didn't get the traffic cone or bin bag

Soft power? What's that?

It always comes back to this. Whatever pretensions we may have about the political system under which we live, Palestine is the issue on which every contradiction unravels, each hypocrisy is laid bare, and all values are rendered contingent and expendable—with our leaders' willing participation.

Sometimes ideologies scream out loud. For example, when people with power call a street like the one pictured here "closed," and only call it "open" when everyone has to keep out so this public space can be clogged by the property of convenience-seeking car owners.

Call me a cynic but I feel like someone at the DWP does know how many people this will affect because they'll have been running algorithmic programs to see the savings to impact ratio. Who knows and who hasn't documented it is another issue. Past HB caps data will also indicate impact.

Our approach to climate change summed up in one photo from @mprnews.org . 🫠

5,000 English nature sites are at risk from the Planning Bill - and MPs vote on it *next Monday & Tuesday*. Tell your MP to remove Part 3 of the Bill - use the Wildlife Trusts' email tool here: action.wildlifetrusts.org/page/171483/... And send your MP this: www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Decent politicians need to push back against Farage's comments on Lucy Connelly. "millions of mothers after Southport feeling exactly the same way"? No. Millions did NOT feel the need to call for mass murder of asylum seekers & we simply cannot allow the idea to be normalised.

Absolutely surreal to have lived through the Napster days and watched as the titans of industry moved hell and high water to lock down any possible chance that someone's song might get swapped online without giving the studios a cut and now those same people are just like "well we gotta steal music"

I'll say it now. Whatever the motive was behind the Liverpool attack*, that monster** driving won't get a life driving ban. * It wasn't a collision, it wasn't an incident. It was a deliberate attack. ** Regardless of motive, deliberately driving into a crowd at speed makes you a monster.

Alan Sugar is STILL employed by the BBC after he posted and deleted these

Yay, we’ve arrived at the point where you can’t trust anything you see. Great times ahead, give everyone a round of applause and a whopping bonus to spend on their bunkers

My favorite scene from The Manchurian Candidate brilliantly explains why liars like Trump don’t care about the wild numbers they fabricate. This was the basis of McCarthyism in a nutshell:

Over 5,000 people have signed our petition to stop airport expansion. Please help us reach the next 5,000 people, so it can be sent to Parliament 🙏 Sign and share:

It’s a good thing that the UK has all those “women’s rights campaigners” with big financial backing and loads of media and political contacts that I’m sure will be jumping right onto this attack on women’s safety and freedom.

It strikes me that this journalism might have been useful **before** the election.

Read this headline. Then imagine actually making this argument. Imagine getting home from work, your partner asking what you did today. Imagine how history will view you. Like the monster you are. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

(can't reply, hence quote) Both the Munch Bunch and Garden Gang books appeared in 1979, had a quick search but unclear on who copied who, or if complete coincidence (or both copying a third unknown party?)

Always follow the money.

Whether it's Labour, the Tories or Reform: NOBODY should be able to win a landslide on under 50% of the vote. Let alone on less than a third. A voting system that permits this is irreparably broken. FPTP has already done too much damage to our democracy. We must replace it now.

Turns out the newts didn’t do it
