Anand Giridharadas: “The country that invented jazz was never going to be good at putting on a military parade. It was never going to be us.” Good to see the No Kings protests more reflective of the American spirit I admire.

Reminds me of that Pete Seeger song. But - those little boxes are often an affordable home for many people. Identical designs in subdivisions might lower building costs. And speaking of identical design- I’m in Paris rn where that uniformity is a distinctive feature!

My fav: “Throughout, JD Vance and Marco Rubio chortled obediently on the couch like Beavis and Butt-Head in nice suits.”

A case for recusal, surely, but this is so common that they must find it a non issue. The idea of elected judges offends my sense of the rule of law. Our appointments procedure is exemplary.

“She told me that she had campaigned on a "get tough with criminals" platform, and her next case was going to be interesting because the defence lawyer was a friend of hers who had contributed to her campaign.” This is why we should not elect judges - the debts that accrue are meant to influence.

The Bluewater Bridge, which I won’t be crossing anytime soon, if ever again.

You love to see it. A good result overall but a confusing one too. NDP losses were not really Liberal gains. Carney has work to do on both sides of the border.

Closer to the border at least :). We’ll let you know how appealing next week. 🤞

Wow, big step! I hope it leads to a satisfying new work life and a happy place for your family. Sorry you’re not coming north but we’re not going anywhere.

My sense is that voting intentions were set quite early in this process and involve some hard lines that people won’t cross. There’s almost nothing that could happen in these campaigns to change that.

Interesting that the Liberal plane has the party name while the other has just the leader’s. The CPC candidates are missing from this election. Almost as if PP wants to emulate the personality cult of the US.

The evidence in the first Nuremberg trial consisted almost entirely of written records made by the Nazis. Although the Trumpists ignore every convention of govt archives they are such narcissists that they can’t help but leave a trail of photos. I hope to see their trial someday.

There’s a red line I won’t cross and it’s called a border.

And deservedly so. “If it weren’t for Mark and a small number of others willing to make sacrifices, popular Canadian history would have vanished entirely from book stores. And Canadian memory would have faded all the more.”

Really leaning into the trumpiness. No point in pretending if he’s going down in flames anyway.

Feeling anxious for my American friends. The rule of law is on life support when even lawyers are bullied into submission and the judiciary is hopelessly compromised. Hope you are well.
