A writ of habeas corpus is one of the four cornerstones of our constitutional republic. The fact that the head of DHS is ignorant of this not only speaks to her incompetence, but to the overall incompetence of the Trump Cabinet. It also speaks to why all Cabinet members must pass a civics test.

The mark of a great comedian is being able to poke fun at themselves. A classic example is Wendt's line as Norm entering the bar and responding to the question---"What's shaking?" Norm quipped: "All four cheeks."

Why do I feel that this is only paying lip-service to the issue? It just seems like complaining about the so-called corruption of Joe Biden and his family, while ignoring every act of more overt corruption of Donald Trump and his family to enrich themselves at the expense of other Americans.

He even tried to use a golf analogy to justify it, by saying "no one rejects being given a putt in golf." Golfers concede a putt that is less than two feet to an opponent. A $400 million plane is not the equivalent of a short putt. A plane is the same as giving someone a long putt. No one does that!

Sadly, this also speaks to just how corrupt the American political system has become. Pres. Trump is only making the system more corrupt by constantly seeing how far he can go before those in the system (the courts and Congress) STOP him, not just temporarily delay or slow him down. It takes action

Republicans touting "Christian values" is as honest as when they tout being the party of "protecting freedoms" and "exercising sound fiscal policy to combat inflation"...BUT do the opposite. It is totally un-Christian to make the lives of average Americans worse to benefit ONLY the upper class.

All this is true, except for the MAGA cult members living in a their own alternative reality. Since no one in the Trump Administration, starting with the POTUS himself, will ever take responsibility for these tariff-induced product shortages, it all comes down to what lies are told to explain them.

There is strength in numbers. Take the example of the Big Ten schools that are banding together, similar to NATO countries, an attack on one school is considered an attack on all schools. As Dr. King said, "an injustice anywhere, threatens justice everywhere." We are all vulnerable in authoritarism.

Is that better than a centipede willing to continue to shoot itself in multiple legs to try to "own the moment" or garner approval from their misguided king?

Why am I thinking that Trump's economic advisers are named "Moe, Larry, and Curly?" But...that would be an insult to The Three Stooges.

Americans are not idiots. He is so weak and insecure that he contantly seeks staged TV events to stroke his fragile ego by acting tough. These range from photo-ops at Cabinet meetings to attacking V. Zelenskyy. This is the life of an intellectually-challenged man, who is also emotionally a toddler.

If anyone wants proof that the radical ideas of RFK Jr. are dangerous to the public, just look at the escalating number of measles cases...and the number of kids being treated for possible liver damage because their parents overloaded their children with Vitamin A.

Exactly! As Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, "An injustice anywhere, threatens justice everywhere."

Why are members of Congress being so silent on this issue? They should know that seizing persons (citizens or not) off the street and detaining them with due process is a violation of the Constitution. And deporting detainees without due process is even more egregious, but nary a word from Congress.

In other words, it is all show and no substance, purely sophomoric behavior. In fact, an average sophomore in high school could operate the Department of Homeland Security with more efficiency than what she has demonstrated.

I say this is just par for the course. Just as Pam Bondi told Senators at hear confirmation hearing she was going to run the DOJ with integrity and eliminate partisan politics, that is all that she has done. That includes getting her brother's client (who committed felonies) a presidential pardon.

What is remarkably striking about all the people listed, along with Adam Kinzinger, is they are not a security risk to the United States. Yet, Donald J. Trump and Tulsi Gabbard are, especially because they possess the levers of power. God help us!

Thus, all the so-called gang members that were rounded up and sent to El Salvador should have been given the due process of law....in which the government has to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that these persons are in fact gang members. This is a miscarriage of justice...plain and simple.

A case in point---all persons residing in the United States, including undocumented immigrants, are subject to the jurisdiction of the government. And... all persons are granted by the Constitution the protections of the government. That means, all persons should have the due process of law.

In fact, all of the Trump adminstration officials on that call are culpable because their sworn oath to uphold the law and the Constitution. That includes saying or doing nothing to move that sensitive and probably classifed discussion off of a nonsecure commerical app forum.

That is because a law of nature is "that birds of a feather flock together." Donald Trump has surrounded himself with those (like himself) who have no respect for the rule of law, the Constitution, and the integrity to live up to their oath of office.

This was not a leak! Jeff Goldberg was included on the group chat by the actions of someone within the Trump adminstration. It obviously was not intentional, but due to pure incompetence.

Not only do members of the Trump adminstation have total permission to lie about anything, just as Donald Trump does on a daily basis, they all treat the American public as complete idiots. I can only speak for myself as an educated retired teacher, I take offense being lied to day after day.

Members of the Trump adminstration, including Donald Trump himself and his press secretary, must think Americans are complete idiots. That goes double for Pete Hegseth, who called this a media hoax...after the Trump adminstration confirmed that The Atlantic article was not a hoax.

It is obvious these men do not have any honor to the Constitution and their sworn duty to uphold and defend it....except honoring their cult-like loyalty to Donald J. Trump.

Who has cried "victim" more often than Trump. Regardless of the mountain of evidence, he is always the poor innocent victim. Take the document case as an example. He was asked at least eight times to comply with the law. He refused & cries that the FBI "raided" Mar-a-Lago. He's a weak insecure man.

My interpretation is that this Commerce Secretary just called Donald Trump a fraudster, because he said "it's always the fraudster who makes the loudest noise." Who has cried victim louder and more often in the last nine years than Donald Trump. He has been tried and convict more than once of fraud.

The Trump adminstration does not give a damn about average Americans, only enhancing the lives of the already well-to-do, privileged, and rich Americans. To deliberately make the lives of the less fortunate even worse by slashing Social Security, education, and so on needs to be condemned loudly!

This is a perfect picture, in the respect that Donald Trump has demonstrated that he is not smarter than a fifth-grader. Likewise, he has shown to have the emotional stability of a grade school bully. Thus, it is very appropriate that he is shown here being isolated and being ignored by his peers.

The burden on taxpayers to fund education is already high. Eliminating the Dept. of Educ. means small school districts will lose Title 1 teachers. The number one job of this department is to ensure the ALL students get an equal chance to be educated. That is not going to happen without federal help.

Likewise, when the DOD takes a webpage of Jackie Robinson. a military veteran, off its website, it sends the message that only the service of white men in the military should be valued.

Dr. Martin Luther King once said that "an injustice anywhere treats justice everywhere." Injustice is being muiltiplied by the Trump administration, if they are allowed just arbitrarily eliminate a key component of justice (due process). We need a free press to keep exposing such arrogant actions.

I live near Belmont and went home, when I saw that I was not going to get inside. You have to realize that Belmont is on the western edge of Lafayette County, and Platteville (with a population of 11,000) is only 7 miles away in Grant County. Rep. Pocan chose the city wisely, but not the venue.

As a baby-boomer, I resemble that adage that "childhood vaccines cause adulthood." As a product of the 1960s, I can say that the level of mistrust of the government has never been higher. When the head of HHS advocates cod liver oil instead of vaccines for measles, the mistrust will only increase.

Personally, after watching this Joint Address, I wish that all my fellow Democrats would have never attended. It was only a campaign rally anyways. All Trump did was talk down to Democrats in attendance, such as calling Elizabeth Warren "Pocahontas."

Only those who are weak and insecure must contantly seek staged TV events to stroke their fragile ego by acting tough, while attacking those who they know are stronger and more effective leaders than they are pretending to be. This is the life of the man who is still emotionally just a toddler.

I am almost 70 years old...and I have never seen a POTUS treat an ally with such disdain. Trump acted more like a mob boss or a grade school bully shaking down Zelensky than a POTUS. I never want to hear anyone call him the "Leader of the Free World." Trump is an enemy of the free world.
