Point being he is good at these moments where he appears authoritative and burns people but what he says may still be bullshit, it’s just debate tricks. (MAC-10/11 have 1000+ rpm)

I watched tucker carlson do this to a gun control advocate that said something about banning guns with 1000 rpm firing rate - he asked him to name a gun with that rate of fire, the guy couldn’t, and he said none existed and “won” - but they DO exist, the guy just didn’t know, and tc knew it…

Great video! I really like this guy. I pre-ordered one, I've avoided the bristle scrubbers for years already but I still have to buy a new brush every damn year...

6/12 -> 6/22 -> 6/28 -> ??? I have zero insider information but I'm guessing there have been a bunch of people at Tesla in Holy F'ing Shit mode for the past 3 months and it's not going to get better for them any time soon. The Ass is writing checks that their tech can't cash

Did not know that - I'm familiar with emacs, I put a lot of effort into making it my primary editor back in the early 2000's but in the end vi won out. Thanks for the info 🙌

Had to look that up - never even heard of it!

I had to convert a disgusting ~10k line perl application to java like 15 years ago and just looped that whole album for days

There was a short scene in "The Bear" season 2 where one of the characters is wandering around Copenhagen and this music is playing in the background, and man is it great walkin around a city music www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXLf...

As a Hawks fan - absolutely true, however imho the potential upside is worth the struggle. Two goals in 17 seconds to win the cup against the Bruins was one of the most amazing sports moments I’ve witnessed live (on TV) - up there with Cubs game 7

Highly recommend the book - and yes, completely agree! The LLMs are neat and shiny and have dominated the attention of the VC set and the C suite, and here we are. I'm hopeful the excitement will fade sooner than later when they realize nothing earth shattering is going to come from it.

I recently read Jeff Hawkins' "A Thousand Brains" - wild stuff they are trying to do, I was fascinated. He also succinctly puts to bed any comparison between LLMs and brains

single pass at some code the outcome can be all well and good, but three passes later and you get code that is littered with abandoned variables, unused magic numbers, and entire execution paths that are unused and unreachable. It works, but it is shit code.

required when writing business code on a deadline to *not* rewrite and refactor a module 6 times during the course of development because you think of some new edge case or have a flash of inspiration half way through that these tools are making very easy to forget about. If an agent takes a

This is a good article but I think the author is naive about how these are being used - the async example is extreme but there is a faction of very good developers that I think are overestimating the capabilities of the agents and it is making them worse at their jobs. There is a discipline

*tabs, not tokens... sorry I'm supposed to be working 🤗
comment in response to post
Would love it if I could have as many tabs open as I want, but there was like a meta-address bar that I could filter visible tokens with - so I could type "mulch" into the meta-bar and on the top would be the three tabs I was investigating mulch prices in. Then I could type "bsk" to come back here
comment in response to post
I tried that, but now I have ~150 bookmarks. At least the tabs are recent!

Far from the point, but am I correct in assuming the word "agentic" was a recent invention for the AI shit, and also does it cause everyone else physical distress when they hear it or is it just me?

This is how the spice melange works in "Dune" - it allows women, and others, to access the "genetic memory" (or something along those lines) of their entire line of ancestors

I made up my mind about him early on when Cris Collinsworth said something like “this young man could walk into any boardroom in the country and capture the attention of every executive in the room” 🙄

There must be some stage in the rich guy -> billionaire guy -> gaping-narcissistic-asshole guy lifecycle that requires them to craft an image that best represents their "personal brand." Never any overlap either, they probably all hire the same marketing firm to do it for them

That's my experience with *anything* AI generated, image, text or otherwise. Looks passable for a one second glance from across the room, any further attention is severely punished.

Did anyone check the Bunsen Honeydew wikipedia page for the Palm Springs incident? I 100% did not do this, I'm only asking if anyone else did because they would be big idiots
