Nice area despite the industrial remains. The path less trodden. I used to live over the hill in Bleanau Ffestiniog.

A grand landscape. I've had a night's shelter in Corrour Bothy on several occasions. An invaluable haven on a stormy night. I look after a not so remote MBA bothy on the west coast. Much respect in this location.

Great day for it. Those NW Fells are definitely my favourite in the Lakes.👍🏻

I've spent a few nights in winter there.

A good read. I've met Alan at Munro Society meets. Done a few obscure Scottish hills with him.

I had a blue sky day on that one. Certainly one of the best Corbetts.

Has Glenbeg bothy moved? Last time I visited it was in Wester Ross.😉

I was brought up in Penwortham, Preston, and you could see Jubilee Tower from near my parents house.

Great photos but I have to agree about choosing to be on my own. Almost always good to meet folk along the way or in a bothy but a bit of silence or the sounds of natural would be my first choice.

Strange article considering, as it says, there are no MBA bothies in Yorkshire. Pushing the idea there is free holiday accommodation out there might not go down so well with owners.

Would that be Glas Bheinn?

There seems to be very little evidence of White Tailed Eagles actually taking lambs. Plenty of antidote though. I think some of the problem is that in Scotland Ewes lamb outside. Much less common in England where farmers invest in lambing sheds.

I'm currently planning to walk the route of R L Stephenson's Kidnapped in May with a friend. We'll brief use a section of the RRW, near Balquidher.

I built the cairn that's right of centre in the photo.

Aye, but I bet you never regret getting out for a fell run.👍🏻

Inevitably the information in this book is seriously out of date. Several bothies are no longer maintained by the MBA. Also new bothies have been added. For up to date information go to the MBA website.

Let's not forget that bothies aren't free. Volunteers put in many hundreds of hours of hard labour to restore and maintain these remote mountain shelters. Here are details of how to join the MBA.

Nice looking tent. If I was in the market for one I'd consider it. At my age now I reckon my one and two man Hellebergs will see me out.

Many years ago a friend and I lost our tent there. No GPS in them days. Took us an hour to locate it in thick cloud on a winters day. Just as well as I was begining to consider hunkering down in the bivvy day for the long night.

Stayed there on Hogmanay a couple of years back. Cold and a foot of snow outside. We where home alone, where was everyone?
