Many Older People Embrace Vaccines. Research Is Proving Them Right. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/14/h...

Very worried about what is happening in LA. Hoping that there won’t be escalation. Good to see a voice of reason, not another attempt to stir up trouble, echoing historical efforts to create opportunity for oppression. We do know the history and we see what is happening. We see you. We see you all.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Read this but also even just the paragraph that starts “On the 30th anniversary of the massacre, Thompson went back to My Lai and met some of the people whose lives he had saved…” www.latimes.com/opinion/op-e...

"Tanner, a chemist at the Univ. of Mississippi working to develop a novel approach for treating glioblastoma, was notified in April that the grant was terminated. “I would like to cure brain cancer,” Dr. Tanner said. “I think that's not particularly controversial.” www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Ridiculous that Irish women are even having to have this conversation in 2025 and hope the GAA cope on in 2025 but great t-shirt, how do I get one? 😀

Delighted to read of this new exhibition in @nmireland.bsky.social featuring seventeen Irish manuscripts loaned from Switzerland’s Abbey of Saint Gall! (incidentally Gall is said to have been one of those early saints who accompanied Columbanus from Bangor) www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

Watched Outrun with Saoirse Ronan on Netflix. Good movie, relatable and emotional story. Great performance by Saoirse as ever. In addition to the strong storyline what resonated unexpectedly was the loss of the corncrakes. They were ubiquitous in Donegal growing up, rare now. Ag chemicals kill.

An 'aubergine' is an eggplant.

Cui bono? Are political entities funded by the PIC companies?feels Dickensian, workhouse ethics for detainees +employee abuse now. Track the $$, waste and human rights abuse. Who can do that? Oh, wait…isn’t there a new agency? Ok forget human rights look at $ waste abuse and who profits.

GEO Group, the private prison company and ICE contractor locking up migrants, is ignoring minimum wage law and resisting calls to pay detainees more than $1 for an entire day's work behind bars. www.propublica.org/article/geo-...

powerful detailed account of ICE captivity "To put things into perspective: I had a Canadian passport, lawyers, resources, media attention, friends, family and even politicians advocating for me...Imagine what this system is like for every other person in there" www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Moose can weigh in at roughly 6000 bananas and stand over 11 bananas high at the shoulder. If yur not standing 128.5 bananas away you could be in big trouble. For the people in back who had trouble with yards.

Baseball media: if you do not loudly report on this I do not want to hear a goddamn thing from you about Jackie Robinson on April 15. bsky.app/profile/fbih...

May we never grow numb to death and violence. May we never grow so cold, so exhausted, so hardhearted that mass murder feels normal, feels inevitable, feels like anything other than what it is: a crime against humanity, against all of us.

American Experience; fly with me. Thinking of high school, it could be a glamorous job? Nuns tut tutting re waste of education to be glorified waitress. Being a nurse would be ok, being a doctor, not ‘an occupation for a lady’. Question about emptying bedpans as a ladylike task did not go well.

Okay, nerds, buckle in! It's time for some SCIENCE. Back in the late 1960s, a scientist got some government funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Atomic Energy Commission to look for interesting bacteria living in extreme environments. 1/x

Maybe instead of purging the Social Security workers who make sure seniors get their checks on time, we should be expanding benefits to make life a little easier for your parents and grandparents.

Its 2027. A group of ragged children is skipping rope. Dirty and ill-fed, they chant “one, two, three, four, five, how do you think that you might die? Measles, polio, Covid, flu. TB, strep throat, malaria, too”

“If a married woman hasn’t paid $130 to update her passport —assuming she has one, which only about half of Americans do— she may not be able to vote in the next election if the SAVE Act becomes law,” @wendyweiser.bsky.social tells Glamour

5,000 New Irish! I love stories like this. It’s amazing to think so many are coming to Ireland, either finding safety or long-buried roots. People who want to be Irish, not ones who needed to escape this rock, just 30y ago. From theocracy to salvation in a generation. www.rte.ie/news/ireland...

this girl was talking about how much paperwork you have to sign to not vaccinate your kid and i was thinking yeah they have to make sure you know you’re doing something stupid

It's not complicated. They're just trying to stop women from being able to vote.
