It doesn’t matter whether or not Rutte called Trump daddy. And by the way it was a metaphor not a statement. What’s important is that NATO is strengthening and US not withdrawing. And the side deals amongst these allies are super important.

Bibi wrecked the quartet’s efforts 20 years ago. His goals have never changed.

Trump will expect the Nobel Prize for Peace if the ceasefire holds. If he could get Russia to retreat, he could possibly deserve it.

January 6, 2025, PM Trudeau announces his resignation. June 17, 2025 PM Carney wraps up G7. In less than 6 months a whole lot of stuff has happened in Canada, to Canada and by Canada that it’s really quite remarkable. LFG

Trump needs an off ramp.

"Donald Trump has wrecked America’s brand. He’s made crossing over from Canada a betrayal, bordering on treason, while turning the U.S. into a laughingstock around the globe." @rollingstone.com www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Who needs an off ramp more? Israel or Iran? At this moment it looks like Iran does. But if this escalated in the region, who knows?

Uneasy feeling about the next few days.

Getting close to crossing the rubicon.

The upcoming G7 looks as though it will be the most significant one ever. Lots can happen in the next 5 days.

For all of my acquaintances who thought I was overreacting in 2015, is that still your view? The tipping point is very close. June 14 could be a really pivotal day. Dreading it. Hope not too much happens.

Friday’s podcast with Peter Mansbridge, Rob Russo and Chantel Hebert was great as usual!

There may be a tipping point when the US implodes. Or cause a world wide recession or depression. How will the rest of the world react to that? There doesn’t seem to be much discussion about a worse case scenario.

Caught up on Canadian politics via At Issue. I note Chantal is holding back some commentary waiting to see what happens, maybe after the throne speech Monday? This is not business as usual. G7 will be most revealing. Best eg of volatility is EU tariff threat today. Nobody can predict much.

Canada became a social democracy with Pearson. Healthcare, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, bilingualism, as examples. WOKE under PE Trudeau’s policies of multiculturalism and govt having no business in the bedrooms of its citizens. Tho he did ponder withdrawal from NATO at some point.

The USA has publicly given up its role as leader of the free world. Can the EU and other like minded countries pick up the mantle? The litmus test is Ukraine.

Before the US China meeting, Trump publicly said he thought 80% was about right but he was leaving it to Scott B. This might be a tell that Trump is tired of discussing tariffs. Scott B ended up at 30% a far cry from 80%.

Who was able to convince Trump to climb down? Hard to believe he realized for himself that if he did not reverse course that Christmas would really be cancelled.

It is so nice not to see or hear Elon Musk every five minutes. Not religious but anything from Pope Leo is welcome.

If you have the time, please find Scott Galloway on tv with Nicole Wallace today. Maybe it’s time the US had a technocrat as president instead of a politician.

What was the video posted by the White House following the visit of PM Carney all about???

So trump says he doesn’t know what PM Carney wants to talk to him about. Can trump act like a grown up for even a nanosecond? Wasn’t the PM invited? If no formal agenda set ahead of visit, PM should cancel.
