Hey, so you know what the government can’t do? Tell us biology is wrong. Where’s Beth Dutton to call him ā€œbuddyā€ and slap the shite out of him?

I’ve repeated myself ad nauseam, but I’ll say it again. The algorithm was suited to the user, not the company that owned it. We didn’t have to follow 1000 accounts to see the 30 we enjoyed the most. It served us, as opposed to mastering us. DoorDash collects more data than TT ever did.

oh my gawwd you’re here I’m so happy The real question is whether @momchats.bsky.social will bring back Goosechats. Given the state of the union, I feel that’s a skill set that we glossed over on TT.

Look at that soft and buttery goodness! I can imagine it good both plain and dressed, warm and cold, alone, and scooping up food. Shazam!!

I left Twitter before it became X and forgot we could count in Scaramuccis.

I’ve had the app on my phone for a long ol’ time w/o using it b/c I left Twitter before it became X. Followed you there, followed you on TT, follow you here. Hoping Skylight will be a nice replacement for TT. I’m a visual learner and don’t want to be sent off app with a link every time.

I hate having to know what’s going on in the world. I’d rather be ā€œfat, dumb, and happy.ā€ But how do you balance your responsibilities as a human to your fellow beings and keep your sanity? Why do I feel like it has to be one extreme or the other or I am judged?

I love that Bezos kind of has hair, but not really.

It was obvious yesterday what was happening. Deleted the app w/no plans on going back. It will probs be a tool for the government to use & the wealthy to make more money off of. Zhou has a seat at the table w/power and they don’t have to have mine. I found you there and will continue following.

Anybody on TikTok yesterday knew that that was the outcome. It will never be what it was. A propaganda tool? Yes. Another corporate fundraiser? Yes.

What does this even mean?

I would appreciate your take on how this was avoidable. Genuine question.

Oh, look friends! A government propaganda tool! Older generations wonder why younger gens don’t trust the gov’t or care abt privacy — it’s b/c they were reared in an era when the government became a corporation and there was no expectation of privacy. A natural consequence of 9/11 ā€œprotection.ā€

War is a great propaganda tool if you’re trying to bring a group of people together when they’re fractured. There will always be dissenters, but there will always be blind patriots, too.

It’s the algorithm for me - it was for the user, not for Meta to make money from the user. It was easy to discover dif communities organically compared to the feed Meta forces on the user. I’ve said this before, but I didn’t have to follow 1500 people so that I could see the 30 I wanted to.

Tell me you weren’t on TikTok without telling me you weren’t on TikTok.

It felt more like the era of company pensions. You worked for the company and the company rewarded you. I’m repeating myself, but the algorithm served the users in peer-to-peer format. You didn’t have to follow 1500 people to make sure you could see the 23 you really liked regularly.

This is little surprise to any of us.

I’d never move to Texas. I have women in my family.

TT will not be what it was when Meta completes its integration and Zhou sits at the cool kids table. The algorithm will serve Meta, as it now does on its other platforms. *That* was one of the draws, the ability to easily find your community because the app was for you.

It was the only peer-to-peer video format that had an algorithm almost entirely dedicated to the user, not the company. We’re tired of MZ feeding us what he wants so he makes money.
