The Sky’s historic first game at the United Center ended with a 79-52 loss to the Fever — and an injury to Courtney Vandersloot. 📝 @juliapoe.bsky.social

Cubs pitchers combined for just 1 strikeout tonight in the 7-1 win over the Nationals to take the series. It's fewest total strikeouts by Cubs pitchers since May 25, 2017 when Eddie Butler recorded lone K. Tonight's strikeout was big one: Thielbar got Abrams looking to end 7th with bases loaded

Colin Rea is the first Cubs pitcher since Jamie Moyer in 1986 with at least 5.1 shutout innings and no strikeouts.

It's Pride Night at Nationals Park tonight and, conversely, I find it interesting the Cubs have not acknowledged Pride Month on any of their social media platforms like they have in past years, let alone promoted on social their own Pride Night at Wrigley next Thursday.

Pete Crow-Armstrong slugs his 16th HR of the season, a two-run shot to dead CF, in the first inning to give the Cubs the lead. PCA had been in a little slump the last 8 games, going 6-for-29 (.207) with 14 strikeouts before that homer.

The Cubs ultimately decided that Miller, who was on the IL and without options, would've had to be activated and replace someone in the bullpen, and they opted to keep their current relief mix. Counsell: "That's always a tough decision."

Cubs have activated reliever Tyson Miller from the IL and DFA’d him. Shota Imanaga threw two innings/39 pitches in live BP yesterday. Porter Hodge threw a bullpen yesterday.

Tyler Marsh said Kamilla Cardoso is being held out of contact activities as a precaution due to shoulder soreness. Does not believe it will jeopardize her availability for Saturday.

BREAKING: Jerry Reinsdorf reaches deal to sell Chicago White Sox to Justin Ishbia — but not until 2029 at the earliest

Rosario’s home run off Boyd was the 3rd furthest outside pitch a right-handed batter hit for a home run in the tracking era (since 2008).

Double Rainbow over Chicago on Wednesday Evening.

Cubs opened game with 3 consecutive singles but left the bases loaded in first inning. They didn't record another hit until Swanson's one-out 1B in 9th & Cubs end game with runners on corners in 2-0 loss to Nationals. Matthew Boyd allowed two runs on four hits in 7.1 IP and was perfect through 5.

Pete Crow-Armstrong crashes into the left-center field wall as he makes a sprinting catch to end the inning. Matthew Boyd is perfect through 5 innings vs. the Nationals. He's only thrown 45 pitches.

Pete Crow-Armstrong is the fastest to 20 steals by a Cub since Tony Campana in 2012.

This is the version of Kamilla Cardoso that the Chicago Sky have been seeking ever since they drafted the Brazilian center with the No. 3 pick last spring. “I played with confidence. I finally saw the work that I put in in the offseason translate.” 📝 @juliapoe.bsky.social

This is one of the wildest thing I've ever seen

Cubs probable pitchers vs. Reds: Friday: Colin Rea Saturday: TBD Sunday: Jameson Taillon The TBD spot is where Ben Brown’s turn is in the rotation.

Courney Vandersloot broke the franchise scoring record in the Chicago Sky’s 97-92 victory over the Dallas Wings on Thursday. It was the Sky’s first win of 2025. @juliapoe.bsky.social reporting from Wintrust Arena.

Hard to believe it's been 15 years since Roy Halladay's perfect game. This old story with @mmontemurro.bsky.social on how that night lived on through watches Halladay bought was such a fun one: www.nytimes.com/athletic/183...

The Cubs take care of business and sweep the nine-win Rockies with a 2-1 victory tonight. The Cubs (35-21) are off Thursday before a three-game series versus the Reds at Wrigley.

Seiya Suzuki & Pete Crow-Armstrong are 1st pair of teammates in Cubs history to reach 50 RBIs in the club's first 56 games, via team historian Ed Hartig. The duo surpassed Hack Wilson/Charlie Grimm (1929), Hack Wilson/Kiki Cuyler (1930) & Ernie Banks/Ron Santo (1969), who all did it 62 team games.

Pete Crow-Armstrong goes deep for his 15th home run of year that cut through wind to RF. It's PCA's 50th RBI of the year on the solo homer, making him 1 of 3 players to reach that mark so far, joining teammate Seiya Suzuki, who drove in his MLB-leading 51st run in the 1st inning, & BoSox's Devers.

Although the trade deadline is still two months away, early signs indicate it’s trending toward a seller’s market, which could complicate the Cubs’ efforts to improve the roster.

Matt Shaw comes through with big hit for walk-off W, going opposite way for single that drops in to score winning run -- Cubs beat the Rockies 4-3 in 11 innings. Pete Crow-Armstrong's steal of 3B and run on Michael Busch's single to left field tied it, setting up Shaw to walk it off 2 batters later

Off the bat, it sounded like Carson Kelly had a pinch-hit walk-off homer. Instead, the wind kills it and it's caught for the final out of the 9th. Cubs-Rockies tied 2-2 headed to extra innings. Kelly's fly out to CF was a barreled ball that had a 104 mph exit velocity and an .880 expected average.

After getting an MRI, Miguel Amaya will be out 4-6 weeks with his left oblique. The hope is he’s back in Cubs lineup before the All-Star break, Counsell said.

Seiya Suzuki has been named NL Player of the Week. Suzuki hit .480 with 3 homers, 10 RBI, four doubles, four walks, nine runs scored, a 1.000 slugging percentage and a .552 OBP. This is first season Cubs have won multiple weekly awards since 2021 (Kris Bryant, Patrick Wisdom & Frank Schwindel).

The Cubs met the newest "worst team in baseball history" Monday at Wrigley Field, and not surprisingly, it turned out to be a good day to play the Rockies. 📝 @pwsullivan.bsky.social 📸 Chris Sweda

Reese McGuire slugged two home runs in his team debut, including a game-tying solo shot in the eighth inning, to help fuel an 11-8 win by the Cubs for another late comeback rally over the Reds. 📝 @mmontemurro.bsky.social

Cubs take the series against the Reds with an 11-8 comeback win. The Cubs (32-21) use a late-game rally to again fuel their win, scoring 8 unanswered runs in final four innings.

This is the Cubs’ 12th game with 10+ runs That’s the Cubs’ most such performances in their first 54 games since 1898 (13)

Brad Keller tosses scoreless 8th, leaving two on to preserve Cubs' 11-8 lead. Keller's fastball sat at 97 mph, an average velocity increase of more than 3 mph than 2024. It's played a big role in his success with Cubs. A look at what's behind the velo jump: www.chicagotribune.com/2025/05/23/c...

And it's first multi-homer game of McGuire's big-league career. McGuire is only the 3rd Cub to record a multi-homer game in his team debut, joining Jim Marshall (1958) and Earl Webb (1927).

The Cubs' lineup is relentless. Seiya Suzuki's 3-run homer gives the Cubs the lead over the Reds in the 8th. The Cubs have scored 8 unanswered runs since the sixth, including four this inning.

Another wild rally for the Cubs: Reese McGuire hits his 2nd homer of the game to tie it in the 8th. Cubs were down 8-3 to the Reds heading into the 6th.

Reese McGuire continues the Cubs catchers' offensive mojo this season, slugging a home run in his first at-bat after being called up today. A late addition to the lineup with Carson Kelly sick, McGuire went deep on an 0-2 pitch from Lodolo to cut the Reds' lead to 4-3 in the 2nd.

LHP Jordan Wicks left his start at Triple A last night because of his hamstring, Counsell didn't have further info, like the severity, beyond that.

Carson Kelly has been scratched from the Cubs lineup due to illness. Reese McGuire is now behind the plate today vs. Reds and batting 9th.

Cubs have called up catcher Reese McGuire and placed Miguel Amaya on the 10-day IL with a left oblique strain. Cubs had open spot on 40-man roster so no additional move needed.

With his home run tonight, Justin Turner at 40 years, 182 days old became the oldest Cub to hit a homer since Gary Gaetti (41 years, 6 days) on Aug. 25, 1999.

Miguel Amaya will be going on the IL because of his left oblique strain, Counsell said. Amaya will get imaging on it Tuesday.

Matt Shaw before demotion to Triple A: 2 XBH in 68 plate appearances. Matt Shaw since he was recalled: 5 XBH in 21 plate appearances.

Miguel Amaya has a left oblique strain, the Cubs say.

Miguel Amaya is exiting the game in the 5th with an apparent injury after making a throw to 2B on a Reds steal. Carson Kelly takes over behind the plate.

Pete Crow-Armstrong came about 5 feet from another go-ahead home run. Instead, it's a fly out that required Reds' Friedl to run and catch into CF wall. PCA's fly ball had a .950 expected average on the barreled ball with a 107.5 mph exit velocity. Cubs trail Reds 2-1 in the 4th.
