I was reading it today. Say whatever about him, the man is prolific! :) I liked this idea of adaptive cellular automata as a minimal evolving system, and I also think there should be more "evolutionary" theories in natural science. What I'm not so sure about is this narrow "computational" POV.

I loved the topic of defects when I was studying about liquid crystals. I was fascinated with the interaction between the defect lines, and the analogies with the superconductors (Abrikosov lattices?). I didn't know about the role these play in morphogenesis! Absolutely fascinating!
