One dynasty-loving history teacher to another, is there a particular passage you use?

“Why are St Brown and Gibbs Ewoks?” was my immediate thought.

Regarding (3):
I think the presence of his Dad is a bigger anchor on his value than his attitude.
If I’m a HC, I want absolutely nothing to do with drafting the son of my future replacement.
Deion’s son has to be a superstar for me to want the headache.

I wonder if this is more mutual than everyone is letting on.
I wonder if the Steelers are maybe perfectly happy to see what happens with Shedeur next week before paying Rodgers a dime.

Is there more reason to think he goes to Minnesota than there was yesterday?
Still seems like it would be a very poor choice on their part to go that direction. And it already seems that they could sign him if they wanted him. 🤷♂️
Still feels like Pittsburgh, to me. 🤷♂️

It’s one of the cheaper blue states, tbh. Depending where, of course (speaking as someone who is moving there after looking at various blue states).

Once they pay the bonus, they have to eat it and can’t send it to the destination team.
I think you have the leverage here backwards.
Atlanta has none.

He’s very likely going to be cut.
Atlanta owes him a $10m roster bonus on Sunday.
They will probably cut him by then.
Even if they decide not to cut him, they would absolutely eat much of the cost for someone to trade for him.

I think Kirk Cousins is the best gamble of the 3 available old guys, although he’s obviously somewhat less available than the other 2.
He’s the guy I can most easily buy bouncing back to his 2020-ish form.

Are we sure they’re not waiting for the Kirk Cousins cut that is likely coming before his $10m bonus on the 16th?

I don’t think Fields has a passionate fanbase the way Tebow did (that was a mess - and a perfect example of the very real problem you’re identifying).
He has a major fanbase in the fantasy community, but if they go 5-12, Jets fans won’t fall in love.
comment in response to

I think the Jets are still hoping his head catches up with the speed of the game.
If he can improve as a pocket guy in the way Geno and Baker and Darnold did between years 4 and 6, you’d have something special.
And if it fails spectacularly, they probably earn a high pick to replace him.

The market right now, this week, is telling you that Fields is worth considerably more than either Russ or Jones.
comment in response to

Fields would absolutely be a starter either way.
The Jets have decided to make an upside bet, as they should, even if it probably fails. He’s the available upside bet.
He’s not getting the 32nd starting job. That will go to Russ or Rodgers. He’s getting the 29th or 30th chair.
comment in response to

Maybe. What would Daniel Jones go for? Russell Wilson? Surely less than what Richardson would go for now.
The lack of options is the point.
You see how the low-probability play with an actual ceiling goes, and if it’s a disaster, you fire everyone and draft a new kid.
comment in response to

Nah. Russ in Denver was garbage, and showed it again last year.
Not making Fields the main option was a huge error, as evidenced by the fact that getting him to stay was their first choice this offseason, and he refused to because they didn’t believe in him.
comment in response to

Steelers should have considered going after Murray, for sure.
Otoh, Steelers should have just gone ride-or-die with Fields last year and ignored the Russ alternative.
comment in response to

ARich is a top-5 pick.
The Colts actually needed a fake alternative, not a real alternative, and that’s why this is perfect.
They couldn’t sell “no competition” to the fans, but practically speaking, they need to hand the job to ARich and clean house if he fails again.
This is perfect for that
comment in response to

They had to give Richardson another year, given the alternatives in the QB market this offseason.
comment in response to

They want Daniel Jones and if he goes back to Minnesota, it will be Mac Jones/Lance/etc.
They’re going to give Richardson a real chance. They aren’t in a good position to “reset” and so they’ll run it back.

Well, you’re almost certainly going to hate any remaining realistic outcome other than, “hits on a low draft capital, diamond in the rough rookie QB”.
comment in response to

Are we sure Daniel Jones isn’t better than either of Rodgers or Russ at this point?
comment in response to

Oof, Dyami Brown is not in that level, but they did spend cash.
comment in response to

Well that’ll do it.
Last 10 weeks of 2022 included 9 top-10 weekly finishes with a pair of monstrous QB1 weeks.
Not sure I love it for the Jets, but I’m buying in fantasy.
