I didn't know that about Dr. Stone, though. That's interesting to learn.

I see what you're saying, that there's a stylistic difference in "manga" vs "comic", but I do think there would be a hurdle to cross when trying to brand a western product with the japanese name, like with western made "anime" such as Castlevania

how is "american mangaka" any different than just any other independent comic writer/illustrator? black and white? the title of "mangaka" just seems so appropriative when manga are essentially just japanese comic serials

this looks just like the spider-man action figure i had as a kid (minus the webs). do they still make these or is it ancient by this point

everyone saying "market crash" when the market is still going strong gives me a bad vibe. as if you're trying to hope it into existence because you like lofi and think AAA aesthetics should disappear

there's a switch 2 model only sold in japan that only supports japanese localizations that's sold for $100 less than base model. this move reeks of "it's significantly cheaper to sell this in japan"

you mean the sports bra? she has the same one in ultimate. it’s from one of the games.

It’s like using a walkthrough to beat all of Super Metroid without trying to do it on your own at all. You’d miss a lot of the feelings the game wants you to have.

I see the point, but there’s an emotional factor that comes from throwing yourself at the wall and eventually overcoming it. Removing that by looking up a cheese guide your first playthrough removes this experience, and having that shared emotional touchpoint is what brings a community together.

the worlds are like paintings you explore. every detail meticulously placed to communicate the feeling of a lost history. it’s amazing.

it’s a common enough experience that this is where the discourse comes from. the disconnect between liveplay and actual play is much greater than the other forms you mentioned, and is a much more popular medium. critrole and such are likely bigger than the rest of ttrpg combined.
comment in response to

it’s because actual play performance is how most people are introduced to the genre these days, and expect their home games to play the same. the incongruencs creates friction between oldheads running games and newcomers joining them.

it’s instead introduced a new source of hilarity: monsters knocking you off cliffs through 5 zones

telling pro competitors to play a new game is like telling people to get a new job. a lot of them are just following the money.
you can criticize the legitimacy of their career path, but when capcom prize pools and sponsors are your primary income you’re kinda stuck with whatever is most popular.

right? one of the major points of the first few movies was how the ogres are conventionally unattractive and mistreated,. it’s a criticism of how people associate aesthetics with morality, especially in media. making them look like pixar characters defeats the whole point.

depending on what your goal is, you can use a program like imageglass to fullscreen view a pure black png. I do this to “disable” my second OLED monitor when watching something on the other

trust me that this is one of the few games that really doesn’t deserve reevaluation. even if you fix the load times, glitches, and soft locks, the gameplay and story still reek. P06 is only decent because it entirely replaced the physics, modified the level designs, and got rid of the story.

biggest difference is that the prequels ended on a high note (revenge of the sith) and that was it. if you hated the prequels, it was just a 6yr fever dream.
meanwhile we’re 10 years into the disney era and they’re still sending out as many stinkers as hits with no signs of stopping. it’s tiring.

5e is creative commons licensed. larian could absolutely iterate on the system if they wanted to, but I doubt they will simply because it’s the weakest part of the game. I’d rather see them iterate on the DOS2 system
