(We started watching WWDITS last week as a distraction from my anxiety. It is very fun. Colin is my favorite, mostly because I had zero idea that he existed.)

"But consent and compensation!!!"
Yeah. *Coerced* consent.

Also. Making you dodge tiny fireballs on an entirely ORANGE background is a literal crime, Mr. Fox.

Y'know when Giorno hits Bruno so hard that the dude has an out-of-body-experience? That is the closest I can come to explaining the experience of games that challenge your ability to react. It is insanely frustrating, and I can only imagine how much Cody hates watching me.

I love this series, but good fucking god do I hate *playing* it. And it's so hard to explain wtf my brain DOES with games like this. Because it's not QUITE hand-eye coordination? It's the way my anxiety completely fucks over my entire sense of *time.* It's genuinely more like dissociation.

My father was obsessed with Revelation, so I'm *familiar* with the draw, but it's the abandonment of the core teaching of christ to end the world faster that utterly confounds me.
But I hold no religious faith because of the cognitive dissonance it requires so the effort to understand is futile. š¤·

YEP. There's a reason they're among the ones obsessed with the idea of AI art - it's a *product.* The "democratization of art" is a shitty attempt at disguising their true intentions. Capital.

It is imperative to our progress and evolution. Without it, humanity will stagnate, and this ā all of this violence and misery and rancid existence ā will be our legacy.
The culmination of the human experience, nothing more than beasts with tools.

So take your ignorant, short-sighted, stagnant, and unrealistic pacificism along with your absolutely bullshit concepts of incrementalism and false balance and get out of the fucking way.

People aren't retaliating for the sake of violence. This isn't an effort to oppress or suppress anyone. They are fighting a world that normalizes brutality and abuse. They are fighting to be seen and heard in a world that refuses to look at them or even listen.
They are fighting for their humanity.

I grew up having it beaten into me that "freedom isn't free," but those same people insist that the struggle of these protestors isn't that very same fight for freedom.

Whether we like it or not, fighting back is an act of harm reduction. Because making yourself a target makes you a shield. Harm done to you is a CHANCE of redirecting harm done to another. It's no guarantee. But it's enough.

If people roll over and accept the violence done to them, it won't change the perpetuation of violence. Cops will continue to brutalize people unprovoked because that is how they are PROGRAMMED, and people will continue to be the victims of that violence.

It's a hard truth to swallow, but people just do not care in the way we're meant to anymore. Many of us WANT to care. But our empathy and depth of compassion has been whittled down to its core. All people have left is the capacity to care for what impacts them directly.
And that's the POINT.

When our atrocities in Vietnam were made public, it eventually made a difference. But information then was so much more limited in scope. People weren't inundated with the horrific violence in the world on a 24-hour basis. But we can't go anywhere without seeing a child bleeding in the street.

People are seeing cops initiate the violence. Beating and shooting unarmed people, but nobody cares.
Iāve lived through almost two decades of it and itās the same story under a Dem or GOP president.
I just canāt understand. Maybe thatās my problem

I don't agree entirely with the rest of Oshiyama's response, but that quote stands out as the key takeaway.
