I must admit, I tipped/backed Piastri at 14. I screwed up by hedging too early, but I'm green either way so can't really complain.

This episode, I cover how the #F1 odds have shifted from pre-season to right now (quarter of the way into 2025), news about Alpine and MBS, and look at the circuit and how the last #ImolaGP went. Give it a listen.

Hamilton caught up to Leclerc quickly. I'd argue the laps behind (overheating tyres and losing laps of faster performance) is why he couldn't build a gap afterwards. It was entirely avoidable by Ferrari.

That's true, but I'd argue Hamilton's frustration was justified by how obvious the strategy call was and the act the delay could (and did, as things turned out) cost him and Ferrari a chance of a better result.

Agree strongly with this, dirty air seems worse than ever this year. The McLarens were around a second a lap faster than Verstappen but still found it tricky to get past. Japan's already shown how qualifying can determine the race. Hungary, Monaco, Singapore could all be the same.

Hamilton was right. He wasn't just kicking off because he was in a bad mood, the strategy call was both obvious and time sensitive but instead Ferrari faffed about.

As well as recapping the sprint, qualifying, and race, I take a slightly different view to some regarding Norris taking 'too long' to get past Verstappen (Piastri took a similar length of time). Plus, Hamilton's excellent radio comedy, and how the title races are unfolding.

The acidic 'tea' and 'You want me to like him pass too?' lines were pretty entertaining. But must be galling for a Ferrari fan to see Williams look faster. If Sainz hadn't been napping at the VSC restart, would Leclerc/Hamilton have finished ahead of him?

I hope the sunglasses protect your eyes from looking at Ferrari's Miami livery.

That reminds me of Kongming (Zhuge Liang), who wrote that generals without claws and fangs are like hungry men eating poisoned food, inevitably to die.

I miss that single year when we had Brundle and Coulthard. Best regular commentary since Murray Walker ("There's nothing wrong with the car except that it's on fire.")

It's a sprint weekend, and there's some interesting news about the engines for 2026.

It's just possible Williams could advance to the frontrunners in 2026 (Mercedes engine plus a lot of thing geared towards the regulation change). He is good enough to be in a top team but that might not mean he has to move.

Nope. Piastri's qualifying brilliantly and racing very well.

Yeah, could be wrong but I agree with that. Looks like no straights are long enough and there's nothing approaching a hairpin. Also, track looks way too narrow (not unique to this circuit, alas).

Includes my take on the lap 1 incidents (Gasly-Tsunoda = racing incident, Verstappen entirely tried to gain an unfair advantage and deserved to be penalised) and how the title battle is shaping up. Also, the transcript has a lovely graph.

Little under the weather but hopefully that doesn't come across too much. Just my luck it's for the longest podcast episode so far.

The #BahrainGP was a very entertaining. I review that, and look ahead to the #SaudiArabianGP in Undercutters episode 16. Plus, a look at how the standings are, predictions, and news.

Not bad for predictions either, with four coming off and a fifth 0.7s away.

A rather easier piece of betting advice is that if you backed Piastri at 14 for the title, as I mentioned some time ago, and haven’t laid yet he’s 2.6 on Betfair and now is a good time to at least go all green.
