I would also apply this to airplane seats. In particular when you get 3 in a row on a redeye.

I'm not following you to pounce on typos, I'm following b/c you're doing a fantastic job. Hug your people and get some rest.

Not even a "Be safe out there?" Even if they're waiting to see how the cards fall, you'd think that would be manageable.

AND he's yellow-ish. Works on a couple of levels. Pooh might want to lay off the mead.

That tracks. I can’t speak for wildlife, but our domestics (& even the semi-ferals around here) prefer drinking from the bowl with the little fountain attached rather than the static ones.

Needs a montage over “All by Myself.”

You can also spin it as an exercise in radical acceptance.

I can't find one at the moment, but someone's got to have a clip of Charlotte Rae as Mrs. Garrett doing, "Girls, girrrrrls!" That's the first thing that crossed my mind when I got caught up on this.

For the administration as a whole, there’s impactcounter dot com. That’s an eye opener.

Dammit. I thought it was rather sweet. Now I'm going to second guess...

Let's go one more on "impact" and stop using forms of it as adjectives. 'Impactful" bothers me to no end, and as I type this, I see my spellcheck doesn't accept it either.

Gen X? Adams was born 1957. Almost a decade too early for Gen Xer.

Or... does power tend to attract the corruptible? I've always wondered about this and would offer as evidence the fact that a lot of the decent humans I know, if offered serious political power, wouldn't hesitate to say, "F*ck right off." Small sample size fallacy but 🤷

My friend Audrey & I saw Bob McGrath & Loretta Long live as wee ones in Tampa and she & I played “Bob & Susan” for months afterward. Thanks for the callback!

Little known fact: empathy, conscience, and kindness leave the body through the face which can cause swelling and splotchiness.

Any estimate on the height of those towering cloud formations?

"Critical Path" Buckminster Fuller. The history at the beginning is worth the price alone, but the whole book really changed the way I thought. Close behind, I have to second @irrationalwisp.bsky.social and say Sagan's "Demon-Haunted World." The Baloney Detection Kit should be required reading.

Engineering/application advancement? Probably. But Einstein didn’t set out to make a bomb, van Leeuwenhoek wasn’t aiming for aerosolized pathogens, and Malory didn’t try for Everest’s summit to track Nepalese troop movements. Quests for the sake of discovery are now suspect. Gotta monetize. 🙁 No?

I have found that if you can make a reasonably accurate gunshot sound with your voice they will quiet right down and move off.

This is naive of me, but it's saddening that I can't picture any organization or country able to marshal the necessary resources to pull this off doing it for the sake of exploration, scientific discovery, and/or pride in the accomplishment.

My gut response is "no" b/c of radiation, microgravity, & other reasons given here. However, if some far-flung body turns out to be rich in rhodium et al, I suspect the engineering challenges would get solved. In short, yes, if someone can figure out how to turn a profit.
