Its that time of year where I get FOMO about @educationfest.bsky.social Jealousy surely: for me sports days, transition activities, reports, timetabling and new intake logistics all happening: I find it hard to understand how schools can release staff to attend. Maybe its just me? #EduSky #UKEd

Interesting observation: and why the education sector needs to understand the effect of cognitive outsourcing on the outcomes of education itself. There are no short cuts to 'doing the work' #EduSky #UKEd

Even linkedin gets it

#Edusky #UkEd Interesting article. Could link up well with schema theory. Sleep helps stitch memories into cognitive maps, according to new neuroscience breakthrough share.google/kCMDDG9of7nq...

Change a letter in a band name, make a food brand. I'll got first: Oily Murrs.

Trauma informed practice probably has a better evidence base than most of the things done in schools.

Good to see more and more people (including central bankers) agreeing that our fiscal framework is borked. And leading to bad policy decisions.

Attendance is the worst it’s been in schools yet rather than looking at support and understanding to solve the problem many seem to double down on an approach which demands attendance. We’ve had real impact on our attendance by working with families and supporting the children.

Anonymous Post: It’s been an intense week, and the next three look just as full on. Juggling urgent tasks, reacting to constant issues, and running low on time... yet somehow still feeling oddly optimistic. Is it resilience or just end-of-term delirium? Anyone else feeling the same?

#Edurunners Sunday recovery 5 How's your exercise?

I am currently reading Mathematical Tasks by Chris McGrane and Mark McCourt. I also follow several UK maths teachers and really enjoy the tasks they share. It makes me wonder about task design - is it part of the teacher training program or just related to who I follow?

Huge shout out to @draustinmaths.com for her resources free online. These were so useful for Y10 consolidation and practice this week. They are so well constructed 😍

Some reflections on leading across a MAT: researcherteacher.home.blog/2025/06/27/s...

This is a great post. Collaboration, not compliance. @samgibbs.bsky.social is doing some incredible work in her trust. Love the idea of double loop learning, I talk about this a lot at work. We need to engage with the beliefs that sit under the actions people take.

A very muggy 23 degrees this morning, so volunteered at #parkrun instead of running today. Will go out later, when it’s cooler, to get my exercise done for the day 💪 Scanned the barcode of lots of people I follow on Strava now, so nice to put a name to a face! #EduRunners

#Edurunners Another month, another 100km. 10km this morning to get me over the line. How's your exercise?

We were lucky enough to have our YouGov/The Economist poll in field when the US bombed Iranian nuclear facilities. You can see the partisan realignment in real time

Bill Gates quoted in the FT "for the first time in decades, the number of kids dying around the world will likely go up this year...because of massive cuts to foreign aid". US withdrawing funding from the global vaccine alliance is the latest blow.
