If it's someone's 1st time then they usually repeat y12 and someone else takes the class on in its entirety for y13.
comment in response to post
I suppose the issue with this argument is that we don't do this lower down school for NQTs we would have the same problems. Especially for y11. We have single teachers if possible and put in a lot of support in for new teachers.

It isn't the best however I believe you can embed a webpage in notebook. I don't use it as I have an iPad but this video explains it m.youtube.com/watch?v=-Sp3...

Brill, I've got the license for CG 100 not had chance to play yet.

Yeah by doing it, you can get an emulator for a year I think so they can access it through classpad on their phones or computers.

I suppose we can tell them to check but it's up to them. They'll be the ones who need to buy a new one when it gets answers wrong. When it arrives they can do the QR check and send back if it's fake
comment in response to post
Yeah I think if it says Sold by Amazon then it'll be genuine. Others say distributed by Amazon but sold by someone else
comment in response to post
Unsure, they've put a lot of effort into the store front.
comment in response to post
I think if they're going to buy from Amazon they need to make sure they are buying from Casio and it is being sold and distributed by amazon. Basically don't click on the other sellers
comment in response to post
It's a shame though because it's 10 quid cheaper on Amazon...
comment in response to post
The font is ever so slightly less bold. @casioeducationuk.bsky.social need to do something about all these fakes especially if they're being sold on Amazon... Currently 20.99 on Amazon and 30 at tesco. I have induction day this week, will need to tell them to watch out if buying on Amazon...

Ours have said all 3 have been good. Not seen P3 yet

Further Maths we haven't done one before but this year we are doing on and I'm currently looking for ideas. Thinking applied to be different to normal maths
comment in response to post
Both regular Maths

Taster day Y10 - discovering differentiation by drawing tangnts on x² and x³ graphs Y12 Induction- Discriminant up to thinks like (k-1)x² exam style questions etc.

And put together to form a series of lessons
comment in response to post
If it was a full day, we would struggle form tutor wise as well, as we barely have enough staff due to selfish (joke) part timers.
comment in response to post
The flip side to it though is though that I have a run of Thurs, fri and Monday 5 lesson days with parents evenings scheduled on Thursdays and after school meetings on Mondays. And y 11 bottom set p5 each of those days. Terrible timetabling.

This year Ive had 1 wednesday afternoon off a fortnight and can take PPAs at home. Which has been lovely because I can spend time with my 4yo then work in the evening.

And in a separate survey of heroin users. A sample of 66 addicts said a ban made no difference to their life...

Yes this was why I didn't take this option Plus if it meant I didn't have a free any other day it would be hellish.

Received this today. Lol I replied, I doubt many people will switch given your paper 2 debacle.
comment in response to post
Please look at the Edexcel Maths A Level debacle before moving to them.

We do the same as this.

We upgraded 4 years ago. Absolute bliss

Long division for me

Without obfuscation...
comment in response to post
I feel like you could say this now with obfuscation. I'm always incredibly candid in reports and parents evenings. I've had very little issues

But still think online is better than a work book
comment in response to post
I agree
comment in response to post
I think theyll just take it and copy verbatim. That's what used to happen, benefit on the old days wear they had to be in the same room now it's just a WhatsApp message away...

And my kids have a poem in their books about the people of using ai. Written by chat gpt
comment in response to post
I do that with Sparx. It gives me 5/6 questions for them to do on their whiteboard so I can check understanding and clear up misunderstandings. In terms of AI, I periodically check the questions and how long they spent on them. It's the only way to check. Lots of contact home.
comment in response to post
Having the same questions just leads to copying
comment in response to post
Also online gives all students a different question which reduces copying. If we can get over AI doing it for them then if can be powerful. If we can't then it would be better to just not have homework
comment in response to post
I think there would be problems with workbooks too, for example being lost, left at school, dad's house... Etc. in the real world you'd be expected to look at a screen or even multiple screens to work through things so surely we need to start practicing that now.
comment in response to post
Do you move students around groups?
comment in response to post
I've decided to stop wearing ties, the head hasn't said anything...
comment in response to post
This didn't hold true when you have schools who ban jewellery and make up. But female members of staff wear them ... The male dress code in schools is so out of date and unfair compared to female staff. Yesterday my room reached 29 °C but I'm there in the same garb I teach in in the winter...
comment in response to post
Agreed it would be good to allow less able students to feel like they could do the paper. Getting 80% ISH wrong and coming out with a E is hardly feeling like winning.

PE loved it, cricket, rugby football. Had so much fun

So I've just done a search and my bursar is wrong. Where things are related to education then VAT is not charged. I shall be contacting them next week as the kids paid too much.
comment in response to post
Casio charge 70 + VAT to schools. If the school uses the calculators for school use and doesn't sell them to kids then they claim the VAT. If they sell it on to the kids then they can't claim the VAT back. At least that's my understanding on it. I can ask our Finance manager next time I see him
comment in response to post
I agree with the sentiment it is bizarre but if we sell the calculator on to pupils we have to charge VAT too.
comment in response to post
Yeah we left Edexcel for AQA a number of years ago because of this.

Yeah it's our 1st real maths trip we've done. Really looking forward to it.
