Tuesday morning we are diving into this slow-read: one poem a day throughout July! #PoemADayJuly List of the poems for the first week here: docs.google.com/document/d/1...

"We're organizing in the world as it is, not as we'd like it to be." A conversation with @larryferlazzo.bsky.social full of wisdom, pragmatism as he shares his wisdom from multiple decades in the classroom as well as work beyond it. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...

Coming out tomorrow AM: a talk with @larryferlazzo.bsky.social about what it feels like to move into that new stage of teaching life called retirement (!!!) I've been reading Larry's writing since my first year of teaching—so what a privilege it was to have this conversation Cannot wait to share!

I love @marcusluther.bsky.social as a teacher, but I also enjoying reading his writing. This blog gets at the heart of why interrogating the root of our jobs with intentionality is a part of THE JOB.

I’m entering the languorous phase of my summer break. Here is a piece I wrote last summer about boredom. #TeacherSky #EduSky adrianneibauer.substack.com/p/summer-of-...

It’s important for teachers to actively question their pedagogical beliefs, especially as AI threatens to disrupt. @marcusluther.bsky.social does an excellent job in this post of analyzing different perspectives and reflecting on his own.

May your summer days be filled with many restful naps. #TeacherSky

Ople is a great place to hear teachers talk about how they teach. I love getting inspired by teachers sharing their favorite teacher moves. Check it out! link.ople.us/j5BlO

How have you improved upon "Any questions?" T ‪@jscali.bsky.social‬ does it by inviting Ss to step into other learners' shoes:

"We endure because we care. We triumph over the constant possibility of hopelessness and ridiculousness." Loved reading this today—and a lot easier to read it being on summer break with more space and distance for reflection: substack.com/home/post/p-...

Peter Shull’s latest novel, Why Teach? gets at the heart of what I (and thousands of teachers) do each and every day. It’s a great summer read! open.substack.com/pub/adrianne...

‘I became a teacher so I can read scripted lessons written by folks who haven’t taught in a decade in order to prepare students to take a standardized test written above their grade level!’ Said no teacher ever

Is it cheating if students use #AI to complete assignments? The answer depends on what kind of behavior we want students to demonstrate: www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/how-... #education #assessment #edtech

What’s the song of the summer?

👇 THIS is what will stick with your Ss. (Inspiration via T @mrneibauer.bsky.social‬) #SEL

"They're talking more about their writing now than they were before this technology existed." I had a chance to talk with @thevogelman.bsky.social today about his new book about his explorations with AI in the classroom to support student writing. Such a great conversation, so many thoughts! 🙏

Today's complaint about the AI in education discourse: Too much of it is framed around a future that is going to happen to us, as opposed to seeing the future as something we may have some agency to shape. I reject the deterministic view of AI, particularly genAI. It's a tool, not our master.

Rewatching Reality Bites more than 30 years later, I’m convinced there are better ways to prepare students for the real world. open.substack.com/pub/adrianne...

I made this list of Nonviolent Political Actions for Writers for a course I taught during TFG 1.0 on Writers & Resistance. Please share. You do not need to be a writer to participate. "You are here on this earth at this time. Don't act like you're not a part of what's going on."

Thank you to everyone who tuned in for my end-of-year livestream reflection . If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment. I’m happy to chat! #TeacherSky #EduSky nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com?url=https%3A...

I chose to end the school year with a powerful poetry recitation experience. Thanks to Poetry Out Loud for creating incredible, free resources for teachers. #PoetrySky #TeacherSky #EduSky open.substack.com/pub/adrianne...

It’s easy to read all day when you have such a sweet, snoring companion. Even if I have turn pages with only one hand.

This Wednesday, 10:00 AM (MST) I’m going LIVE! From redesigning book clubs to centering my students’ humanity, join me as I process an eventful school year. If you have questions, send them my way. You're all welcome to listen to my end-of-year decompression. See you then! #TeacherSky #EduSky

"Writing is thinking and feeling and a lifelong practice. Teaching and learning and reading and writing are all innately human acts and to outsource them to AI, albeit attractive, diminishes our collective humanity." @mrneibauer.bsky.social this morning 👀 adrianneibauer.substack.com/p/more-than

What started as a book review of @biblioracle.bsky.social’s book, More Than Words, turned into something more than. Warner gives me hope (and a plan) for my later years as a teacher. #EduSky open.substack.com/pub/adrianne...

Reading end of year reflections from student after student that emphasize ⓵ how they realized that the process of writing was also a place to develop their thinking and ⓶ how much they valued the opportunity to write authentically to share their story. And I'm really scared about losing that.

Most special ed efforts focus on better access to learning, but this isn’t enough. This week, I talked with @amytondreau.bsky.social and Laurie Rabinowitz about disability-sustaining pedagogy, which helps students embrace disability as a cultural identity. www.cultofpedagogy.com/disability-s...

Reading Learning Environment by Jared Fox felt like an immersive professional development summer workshop. I learned a ton! He shares great teacher moves I’m planning to use in my classroom this fall. I’m excited for other teachers to read this when it comes out this fall! #TeacherSky #EduSky

School has been out for two weeks, but it’s important for students to know they’re celebrated this #Pride! I sent this tiny note to my students via Remind101 just so they know this adult sees them.

Long after the school year ends, your Ss will remember the way you let them know they mattered, reminds T @mrneibauer.bsky.social‬ #TeacherSky

In a desperate attempt to entertain my teenagers, I forced them to travel back to the 90s. This immersive exhibit is fantastic!

This is solid advice! #TeacherSky

Whether you are already on summer break, or the last day of school is fast approaching, join me for a summer edition of Ask Me Anything. I plan to reflect on the school year, share some of my takeaways, and look ahead to a relaxing summer. If you have questions you’d like to ask, send them my way!

These testimonies reinforce exactly what I'm hearing as I go present at schools and universities about how to adapt to teaching writing in an AI world. 1. Schools and institutions embracing the technology while also requiring instructors to police academic integrity is a disaster. (cont.)

Television sitcoms were a big part of my childhood. This week, I thought I would revisit some of my favorite sitcom moments. open.substack.com/pub/adrianne...
