I love this book - it has really helped me understand the non-teaching elements of my SLT role and how to create time to really focus on them.

Thank you, that means a lot. I barely use social media these days but I enjoy posting here for the moment.

Hi Darren, I draw them in Goodnotes based on paper notes I've made. I then transfer them into PowerPoint so I can annotate them and add further notes.

It's lovely isn't it, I'm definitely glad I paid a bit more for oak over chipboard or bamboo.

But it’s nice to be home. I might daydream about living in Helsinki (or Berlin or Tallinn or Portland) but Norwich will always be home.

I read it years ago and really enjoyed it, maybe I need to re-read it with teaching in mind.

I feel like I learned a lot more about the candidates through the coaching conversation and the subsequent selection and rehearsal of an action step.
It's quite a small tweak to the day but has a potentially huge impact on the data you gather.

I use Goodnotes on my iPad. In class, I mirror my iPad to my board and use presenter mode on Goodnotes to teach with.

I make the notes on GoodNotes on my iPad then export it to images and paste those into PowerPoint where I animate it.

My big AP priorities for this term are:-
1. CPD - building a coherent, T&L focused programme
2. Coaching - getting implementation right
3. Onboarding - starting new staff off on the right foot

The thread that ran through all the schools we visited was distinctiveness and a certain bravery of leadership. They had all defined their culture and were constantly reinforcing and refining it.

What I'm left thinking about is the why and how of schooling. School leaders work within defined boundaries but we have more autonomy than we exercise.
How can we leverage that autonomy to do what's best for our students and our community?

There are definitely parallels to be seen between the charter school movement and free schools / academies in the UK but the focii, the scale and now the direction of travel are all different.
The breadth of curriculum, the way English and maths is taught, the school cultures - all so different.
