The old days of "I need to fundraise 6 days out of 7" are bullshit and it frightens consultants. Zohran won with a fraction of the money Cuomo had. Any Dems running should fire their consultants immediately if they suggest working across the aisle or reaching centrist voters. That's done now.

Support for trans rights is the overwhelming consensus among Dem electeds but somehow the Dems who get invited on TV to discuss the topic are universally the ones opposed! Weird coincidence! bsky.app/profile/hype...

Gillen's a first term MoC representing a district outside NYC. Before that she was a Hempstead Town Council member. The kind of MoC who doesn't get a lot of national media hits but suddenly producers are booking her once they know she will slam Mamdani. It's interesting who they choose to invite on!

legal analysts keep saying “you know, the rule the court established isn’t unreasonable, it may even be good!” But the thing is that it’s not the rule at all. You’re being told Calvin’s latest rule in Calvinball and thinking “ok well this one makes sense.”

I have a high degree of certainty that some number of kids in this category will be deported before Amy Coney Barrett’s 30 days is up.

As I noted yesterday, the Court could have avoided any nationwide-injunction problem here by just expanding the question presented on the stay motion to include the merits factor and then ruling that birthright citizenship is mandated by the Fourteenth Amendment. bsky.app/profile/sbag...

It seems relevant to this exchange that the Biden administration presented the Court with two very different (& independently attractive) vehicles for reining in universal injunctions earlier this term—one in a cert petition; one in an emergency application. Doing it here versus there isn’t neutral.
