Thank you. It’s for my first meeting at a new book club. It’s taking me a while to get into it.

This. In a very breezy garden.

I’m really surprised by the amount of time the greenfinches spend on my feeder - they’re not shy!

Still reading Hold Back The Night by Jessica Moor. Really enjoying it.

I think it was the setting. I knew nothing about Malibu before. I love the way she does this - I mean if you’d told me a novel about tennis could be gripping I’d have doubted it (but Carrie Soto is)!

Love them all but I really liked Malibu. I’m on the library waiting list for this one (number 2!).

Just finished The Land in Winter by Andrew Miller. Very good - gets under your skin. Started Hold Back the Night by Jessica Moor. Also just finished Raising Hare by Chloe Dalton which (if you appreciate wildlife) was a joyous read.

Cool! I’ve only read The Talented Mr Ripley by her but it’s a great book. Which one was your favourite?

I’ve just finished one that people were giving 4 stars to…I gave it 2. It was just so irritating! I should have given up on it, in hindsight. If the writing style annoys me the story itself makes no difference 🤷‍♂️

Is this intentional or accidental wild weeing? 🤣👀

Highly recommend The Story of a Heart by Rachel Clarke. Depicts the heart transplant of a child, the tragedy of the death of the donor, but interspersed with the history of the science behind transplants. Sensitivity written. Halfway through The Silence In Between. Verdict’s out so far.

I enjoyed this one - wouldn’t necessarily have put it on a prize shortlist though! Nesting by Roisin O’Donnell is one that I felt should have made the shortlist. None of the shortlist appeals to me tbh.

It’s also my youngest’s birthday today and although she’s now 20 I have not forgotten the vileness of one of the consultants. I fear it’s all too common. Hope the day goes well for you.

I hear you! We’ve just moved from an area which will never be anything other than Tory…

I must put this on my TBR - see what all the fuss is about!

I’ll watch Keely Hawes in anything - she’s so watchable! But yes - they were all great. You must have read the book? It’s lovely.
