Outstanding - these Erythranthe are an amazingly diverse genus. I’m in the Pacific NW and have five species close to home. Thank you for sharing.

So different than our American Robin. It's part of the thrush family. The European Robin is part of the flycatcher family. I just looked that up, so your photo helped me learn something new today!

Hi David - I think you need to create a post with "@friel.bsky.social" in it (remove the " ") asking to join. That's what I did.
Best of luck - saving pollinators is such a worthy thing to do!

Hi - I think you have to create a post to "@friel.bsky.social" - without the " " to actually reach him.
Best of luck! It seems like a very good feed. I'm getting a lot out of it.

Holy snappers - there are some big differences here - I had to look up where Homer was.

What a lovely set of images - hope you all fared well in the huge storm that roared down on you these past few days.

I like the difference in light in all 4 seasons in these images. But winter calls to me the most.

Apparently the Victoria area is avoiding the colder air so far this winter. I expect to see more early bloom if we don’t get a freeze. Is CR having a “normal” winter?

Every time I see a male Wood Duck I always think someone was having a field day in the makeup aisle at the Bay! They are very showy indeed.

Lovely time lapse on the creek. Really makes the photo standout for me.

This is a photo that would be powerful as a 2025 repeat.

Such a grand area - something engaging in every season!

Finally, I have decided what I want to be when I grow up - "woke pro-daylight"! A bar I can get over.
Great line! As both Homer Simpson and Nelson Muntz have been known to say "It works for me on so many levels" 😂

I suspect they will need to get another lesson from the ranchers! I always through ranchers were a fairly conservative bunch - until you start messing with their water. They made the coal mining - water connection and then they made their message heard. youtu.be/X_h354W4d2M?...

Thank you - I was really taken with the understated beauty and texture of the landscapes in the Peak District.

There is nothing like seeing one of these in the mountains - it makes a person's soul take wing!

This is dire - I hope this is a blip and cold temps with snow are coming your way soon. Your spring and summer hydrological cycles could be in real trouble if not.
Does Alaska have a lot of winter "snow roads"? Canada's north does - and when they can't go in everything gets even more expensive.

I think Archie is the best! He elevates everyone's day. I think he should be in the New Year's List of Honours!

Although I’m much more at home in the mountains I’m totally fascinated by the ocean - especially where it meets the shore - like in your shot. Well done indeed!

That would be great - I'll keep an eye out for them.

Thanks for the view. I'm hoping to do some multi-day walking in this area next year (but I sure hope I'm not doing multi-day raindrop dodging!).

Hi Dan - the meltwater off this glacier (the Mummery) was so sooty you could taste it in the water. Kind of like a cross between retsina and a peaty single malt - but maybe middle schoolers don't need to know that part 😁
