one of the only things in nature with an exponential growth rate at all costs is cancer.
personally, i think it’s probably a bad idea for humans to use similar “maximum growth at all costs” models as indicators of prosperity & health 🤷♀️

Heart of Darkness, virtually every American vietnam film, etc. etc. It's all about sad colonizers and how colonialism debases them, rather than about the material consequences for the people who are actually suffering.
