Certainly. But I'll also won't be applauding a teenager's angsty poetry just because they created art. I respect their creation as art and them as an artist but I can't say that's it's beautiful just because it exists. Some art's just shit.

Should those things really be applauded? With all due respect to every artist judging creations is part of the overall experience of art. If I may act as the devil's advocate to the original post, diminishing people's effort is wrong but we also shouldn't venerate artists just for creating something

Here's a fun fact: The cubs may have the most runs scored overall but they also have the most runs allowed out of every first place team in both leagues. Assuming that the offense is going to at some point, slow down the bullpen situation is going to fuck us over and ruin our season if not addressed

I'd move him to 6th and have nico be 5th and Dansby 7th. And I'd mostly do it for any potential psychological outcomes, namely rewarding PCA for doing well and motivating Dansby to get his groove back. But I accept that this could be a simplistic way of thinking.

Yes but for most of the season we were unable to get hold of the division and all we had for hope was our superior run diff against the rest of the NL central.

What does this have to do with anything? I just said that non Americans are on average just as shitty as Americans on the internet. My whole point was that this Michael Moore-esque attitude of "everywhere but the US is heaven" is wrong and unproductive.

Nah, there's nothing uniquely bad about Americans (or uniquely good for that matter). You could argue that some cultures have become more permissive of bigoted behaviour but, as an outsider, I honestly don't see it with the US.

Performance aside, Ohtani's contract made sense because he brought a dedicated fan base of 125mil people with him to the Dodgers. Soto doesn't have that. His performance will merit his yearly salary for now but will this be the case in 10 years? Insanely risky deal imo.
