I've struggled with Koivu. No major awards (sorry Masterton and Clancy, you don't count) or cups. He is 10th all time in team scoring, though.

I don't think it's a standard. The Habs just used to win the cup all the time. They haven't really had someone worthy of having their number reitired since they stopped winning. They're not Ottawa, where they can just randomly grab Chris Neil and retire his number 🙄

Not necessarily. It's a different era. I'm not advocating for a jersey retirement, I'm just saying a lack of cups shouldn't be the barrier it once was.
