Marik still lives on in Odion, plus anyone else he used the Millennium Rod on. Odion is ready to give up his consciousness for Marik, but Yugi suggest he simply live in Strungs instead. Yugi also gives Joey back the Red-Eyes, insisting he proved himself as a True Duelist.

Yugi and Joey duel, with Joey overcoming Obelisk purely through his own cards. Everyone is shocked when he's able to revive Ra to destroy Slifer (he earned the god's respect when he withstood it's flames, but it's treated as a one-time thing). Yugi ultimately wins, and Joey gives him Ra.

Close! Odion awakens early and strengthens the true Marik, who sacrifices the last bit of himself in Tea to give Joey the strength for his final attack. Joey wins and Marik's body is killed, ending the threat of Yami Marik. Joey then falls into a coma, but wakes when Yugi plays the Red-Eyes.
