"Offline, in real-world Los Angeles, most Angelenos are having a perfectly normal day. But online, the fires and riots are still raging. The powerful algorithms that fuel social media platforms are feeding users days-old and sometimes completely fake content." www.cnn.com/2025/06/10/m...

Idk man but when the administration that tried to reject humanitarian aid for Los Angeles when it was burning tries to justify their illegal military occupation by saying they aren’t going to let LA burn it kinda sounds like bullshit

Cops are shooting impact munitions madly. They're shooting at people who are simply moving along on sidewalks and leaving the area as they were ordered to do. No one in this video is throwing anything at police. Mounted cops are coming up behind people and hitting them with extra long riot batons.

Welcome to the World Cup in Donald Trump’s America!

1. Vincent Scardina, a Trump supporter, gets emotional while discussing his employees who were recently arrested by U.S. immigration authorities. Scardina owns a roofing company in Key West and says that one-third of his employees are now gone.

just worth noting that not only is this horrifically bad journalism, it is also targeting Levitsky for death threats or worse.

ICE agents pulled this guy out of his car and beat the shit out of him, putting him in the E.R. Then they pulled him out of the hospital saying he was a "violent gang member." (He's a Doordash driver with only a traffic ticket on his record.) Now he's just...gone. What a nightmare.

US broadcaster CBS reports White House decision to move staff partly due to Israeli preparations for attack on Iran.

the real joke of course is that JD Vance was cheering for Javert the whole time.

More and more we’re seeing the collision between “Follow the rules” and “there is in fact no way to follow the rules.”

The rabble has been roused

yes, higher tariffs increase tax revenue from tariffs. that’s something anyone could have told you, and it’s pretty disingenuous to frame it as though this proves opponents wrong.

Easy prediction: When JB Pritzker appears before House committee tomorrow (I'll be covering) at least one R will bring up his NH speech, where he called for Democrats to resist Trump in the streets, and blame him for the LA stuff.

"likely to draw an uproar from pro-vaccine groups" like the opponents are a tiny special interest group and not "literally all doctors and 95% of parents"

From the federal complaint against David Huerta. Note: DON’T TALK TO THE FUCKING COPS. THAT INCLUDES PROCLAMATIONS ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING.

SCOOP: Guardsmen deployed to LA aren't on formal orders, thus aren't set up to be paid or get healthcare yet www.military.com/daily-news/2...

NEW—A US contractor with inside look at the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.” Some contractors never deployed before—or are ex-cops. None are confirmed as trained for the guns they were given. They saw the IDF targeting Palestinians. “This idea that the Israeli military isn't involved is bullshit.”

Unsurprisingly, Rs are releasing montage videos that combine Dems calling for protests with footage of WayMos burning = ie, THIS is what they called for. But we're about to have a ton of peaceful protests that clarify what Dems are calling for.

Cannot express enough how much what happened at that meeting three weeks ago has changed things on the ground. Courthouse arrests started within days, then check-in arrests. Worksite raids, once rare, began happening daily. Detention has skyrocketed over capacity. People are going missing.

Donald Trump is such a strong President… he can only be surrounded by idolizing sycophants or he’ll start gasping and sputtering like a dying fish… if he receives criticism rather than praise he pisses his pants and has to be changed by a nurse… a titan of power and strength

A journalist got fired this week for calling this guy a hater, something that's just objectively true and has been true since he was a kid.

the bottom line is this — anti-vaccine contrarians, conspiracists, and cranks are now on the committee that will set vaccine policy for the nation.

This is as clear an issue of manufactured consent as I've ever seen, and I was alive for the post 9/11 bullshit and Watergate and the end of Vietnam as well. Don't believe the hype, folks. Everyone in LA is fine as long as the fucking cops and the Guard and the Marines all keep it in their pants.

The only reason people think LA is a postapocalyptic nightmare is because of the X algorithm. An unreality machine.

this is the New York Times both-sidesing actual science. "pro-vaccine groups" as in SCIENTISTS and DOCTORS

Someone in Chicago made protest flyers that mimic the design of handbills that contractors put on people’s garages. I saw one on my garage this morning and then noticed many more when I went out for an early walk. A lot of contractors are undocumented so they will surely see these.

Feels kinda important to point out that if non-citizens are required to carry proof of legal status, then citizens do too by default. This is absolutely insane.

FYI the Democratic party is more unpopular than Trump et al in this poll.

Right. Just in time for Trump to kick us again.

Agree with Sen Hawley that we should look into people who offer support to violent insurrectionists

BREAKING: Judge says Mahmoud Khalil cannot be detained or deported based on Rubio’s determination. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

leftists: that thing you teach us in school to be terrified of is happening historians: that thing is definitely happening star wars: here is a beat-for-beat breakdown of how the thing happens, but with pew pew lasers. we know you watched it news outlets: these protesters are out of control

Just not a useful discourse bc you're arguing in absentia with anarchists who are absolutely not reading your takes to decide their evening plans!

The Trump administration has ramped up investigations of companies suspected of employing undocumented immigrants, directing officials to meet audit quotas for such reviews to accelerate deportation efforts.

Whoa. New Quinnipiac Poll. Trump at 38% poll.qu.edu/poll-release...

One thing we didn’t touch on: If Trump gets away with this, he will absolutely do the same thing during the 2026 & 2028 elections. He will manufacture unrest just like in LA and send federal troops to every major city as a way to intimidate voters and decrease turnout. Functional end to fair elex.

Since Jan, Trump administration members have 1) endorsed the Confederacy, 2) endorsed white Afrikaner attacks on the post-Apartheid South African government, 3) given a Nazi salute at the inauguration, 4) endorsed the neo-Nazi party in German elections. There's a pattern here, but it's subtle.

Masked bigots and thugs are committing crimes against immigrants. Similar crimes are also being committed by people who do not work in federal law enforcement.
