Because Black people know that there is no such thing as “identification” or “identifying yourself”. They aren’t saying Padilla didn’t identify himself as a U.S. Senator. They are saying that there is only one acceptable identity — credential — being white and, in these times, being pro-Trump.

When are we going to talk about the fact that many of Trump's loudest fans are openly calling for lawless dictatorship, white supremacy, and mass violence - and that this contingent is the one being listened to by the White House, Stephen Miller, JD Vance, and DHS?

she literally held a press conference to say she is using the U.S. military to overthrow the government of Los Angeles!!!! either California treats her as a mortal enemy or California is not a sovereign entity!

Even if this account was true* "disrespectful political theatre" is not illegal is not appropriately met with handcuffs. * It is not true; Padilla can be clearly heard on the video identifying himself as Senator Alex Padilla.

An MSNBC anchor just definitively claimed Padilla didn't identify himself when video clearly shows he did. So fucking irresponsible. This is how lies spread.

state media. propaganda.

DHS is arguing members of the Secret Service don't know who a U.S. Senator is, that he didn't identify himself (he does in the tape), lunged towards the Noem (not evident on the tape), and somehow all this necessitated him being hauled away, thrown to the ground and cuffed. x.com/DHSgov/statu...

Padilla: If this is how DHS responds to a senator with a question you can only imagine what they're doing to farm workers, to cooks, to day laborers out in the Los Angeles community and throughout California.

Update from my mom about the ICE agents who showed up at the Whittier public library the day the summer reading program for kids started on Monday. The librarians would not let them in to use the bathrooms so they retaliated by peeing on the building and the flowers, etc.

You activated the silver haired sociopath, you fools

warren speaking now www.senate.gov/legislative/...

whining about how the protestors need to mind their manners sure looks fucking stupid now

If the feds’ objective is to “liberate” Los Angeles and California from its democratically elected leadership, then this not a peacekeeping mission but a program of invasion.

Palmer: Charges should be brought against each one of you AOC: Raising the prospect of charges against witnesses is a form of intimidation is it not? Palmer: I strike those words

People should def be watching the Senate floor right now. Senate.gov

hopefully there is an increasing recognition that police power does not respect carveouts. you can be a journalist with a press pass, a US senator, a 'peaceful protester'---cops attack first and create the justification for it later. (and it's not like the courts will restrain police power.)

Noem saying "I don't even know the senator" You stupid ****. He's on the subcommittees that oversee you.

They are disappearing people. They are arresting and indicting senators and members of Congress. They are sending active members of the military into US cities for the express purpose of regime change.

They are extremely clear about the fact that they consider themselves to be at war with you. They do not equivocate about it. It's their stated policy.

"Inflation isn't up despite the tariffs!" ok how can we be sure www.cnn.com/2025/06/05/e...

Liars lie. That’s how they get away with abusing power. Never let anyone lie to you.

This is insane and also I hope that seeing a US fucking senator thrown to the ground and cuffed for asking a question will help some of the people who still aren’t getting it to recognize that THE POLICE ARE THE SOURCE OF THE VIOLENCE

Noem: “I think everyone in America would agree that the senator’s interruption wasn’t appropriate.” Fuck you, dogkiller

booker ready to do anything other than vote no on republican legislation

Sen. Alex Padilla, who was just forcibly removed from a DHS press conference, is the ranking member of Judiciary’s subcommittee on immigration, citizenship, and border safety, which has “oversight of federal agencies with citizenship, asylum, refugee, and immigration enforcement responsibilities.”

A U.S. senator being physically removed for saying “I have a question” isn’t just a bad look. It’s authoritarian energy. You don’t lay hands on oversight. You answer to it and everyone should be paying attention to how they won’t.

Video of the alleged civil rights violations committed by ICE agents against citizen Elzon Lemus on LI released during news conference announcing lawsuit:

Theoretically, what prevents the executive branch from manhandling members of the legislative branch like this is that the legislative branch controls both the law that the executive branch has to obey AND their funding. So when Trump ignores the law and illegally impounds funds....

The American system of government relies on checks and balances—a power struggle between the different branches. Bad things can happen when those rivalries realign along partisan lines.

Democrats are obsessed with the phrase “we need answers.” Answers on what!? It’s all on film, man. There are no remaining questions.

The state of California needs to arrest the DHS "security" forces for assault and every Democrat in the U.S. Senate needs to sign onto a campaign to impeach Kristi Noem. Right fucking now.

Utterly lawless. These agents do not deserve the title of law enforcement. Violently arresting a sitting senator for objecting to the regime's legally dubious takeover of core state functions in order to crush peaceful protests. Authoritarian in every way.
