If we had the caliber of forward where I wasn't absolutely surprised when they scored, that'd be something

Whenever I'm back I hit Church's Cantina and the Mule. That neighborhood kinda rules.

I got back in town Monday and went by there, saw the line, and kept rolling. I'm happy for them though.

This reply is legitimately too stupid to engage with

Listen, if you give a single speck of your mental energy to the idea of Iran nuking the US — with weapons they don't even have — given the obvious consequences they'd face, you have either consumed too much American propaganda or have a head full of rocks, maybe both.

Holy hell, there's a moment in Chapter 14 where I screamed out loud "that man, @blacktopkid.bsky.social did that!"
Bro! I don't want to spoil anything but this changes everything!!!

Yeah exactly, it's like Elon going to Mars and the mass deployment of self driving taxis

Fair.
I am holding 3 ideas at the same time:
1. Neo-cons in DC and Tel Aviv have been trying to get us to go to war over alleged Iranian nukes since 1996
2. If I was Iran or Ukraine for that matter, I'd absolutely want nuclear weapons
3. America ain't the world's daddy

IDGAF if they're refining uranium to construct the biggest nuclear bomb in all of creation.
The idea that we think we can dictate who and who doesn't get the bomb, like we are everybody's daddy is exactly the problem.

I think I come across as grumpier online than I actually am, although my loved ones will probably disagree

Grief or grievance? Because I think the latter is much more powerful.

I remember reading stories about support for invading Iraq varying greatly by whether or not the person being asked could find Iraq on map or not.
For the life of me, I wish being a wholly uniformed clownshow came with some sort of social consequences.

Yes, but the last "we need to go to war so they don't get WMDs hype cycle" was much more recent than that

The last few years have solidified for me that the electorate is generally incapable of internalizing historical lessons but really susceptible to ahistorical memes.

The implied context here is that somehow being a Marxist is a capital offense and lemmie tell you, that's not how any of this works

I wonder why officers that assault people at protests face no sanction but anyone who farts in the direction of law enforcement, especially if they are melanated, faces prosecution?
Okay, that's more of a notice.

FIFA killed much of the fan enthusiasm in Seattle by pricing match tickets at three to five times what the same tickets cost for league and Champions League matches.
Prices came down a bit but many, many people I know were really turned off by the initial sticker shock.

US police habitually escalate protests and use excessive force — but you'd hardly know it from media coverage. But court records and settlement payouts tell a very different story.
Think about how much more you heard about CHOP in Seattle than this.

Chris Hayes called it earlier this week: large peaceful protests aren't deemed "newsworthy." Only violent ones are of interest to the Times & Co.
Then, they ignore the escalatory behavior of police and role of law enforcement in carrying out the vast majority of the violence at protests.

The absolutely crazy rhetoric being spewed in these ideological fever swamps has dreadful real world consequences. But the profitability from being a BS peddler is nearly infinite.

I've always been struck by the chasm between the media portrayals of him vs how principled he comes off in interviews. It's demonstrative of the state propaganda function of media.
Now, I am curious about your takeaways from the privacy conversations. I'm assuming you use Signal habitually.
