As a city, we all benefit by supporting and enabling events and organizations like the ones above and many more who aren't mentioned here. By doing so, we can enjoy the best parts of our city while also lifting up those around us. Everyone wins! 5/

This is just a small sample of organizations who contribute to Ward 8 and Calgary. They're also places familiar to me through my own time in Ward 8, both professionally as a musician and a lawyer but also just as someone who loves to be out and experience my community 4/

Second, others doing great work all over Calgary. Vecova enables people with disabilities to thrive in their city. Inn from the Cold gives families the tools to find shelter and succeed. Wood's Homes lifts up young people across Calgary experiencing crises of all kinds 3/

First, organizations that contribute to Ward 8's vibrancy. BUMP enriches our city scape and gives artists a palette to create. CSpace provides non-profits and individuals affordable space to gather and perform. Sled Island activates spaces with local and international artists 2/

Owen is just one example of someone who might be your neighbour doing great things for our city and who also happens to call Ward 8 home. Look out for more stories like this and if you want to be part of our future focused vision for Calgary sign up! 3/ www.nathanielschmidt.ca/get_updates

The arts contribute not only to our culture but also our economy and enabling people like Owen to live, work, and succeed in their own neighbourhood benefits all of us. These stats from Calgary Arts Development are compelling 2/ calgaryartsdevelopment.com/news-informa...

And really, it's worth recognizing that our roster of volunteers exceeded even the most positive predictions for this weekend. Not 1000, not 2000, but multiple thousands of doors reached in under 48 hours. If you're excited about the future of Calgary, why wait? Join us!

Yes! Infrastructure + education = good.

Learning important skills while having fun is like the ultimate goal of getting kids to learn and remember what they learned. Safety City nailed it.

A really unique part of the city and it encourages us to think a bit differently about how we design our neighbourhoods. Definitely want to see this place survive and for even more programs like this to be available across the city.

I had never read before but I'll be reading lots now.

You know, my trek that I used for 20 years was stolen in September and these bikes were the used replacements I bought and rebuilt to fill the void. Nothing like a vintage trek.

We need better politicians.

There are lots of places to bring your dogs that are designed specifically for that purpose and all of which contribute to maintaining the health of areas where the presence of dogs creates negative outcomes. There are also lots of places where you can take your dog while on a leash 3/

This is especially true for areas shared with wildlife. Dogs are extremely disruptive to the well-being of nature and having your four-legged friend trample around unimpeded degrades the health of the place you're walking. Now multiply this by hundreds of dog users and you see the problem 2/

The "hopes and prayers" strategy of snow removal (unless it's for cars).

I remember when I learned the multi-use pathway system along 37st surrounding Westbrook CTrain with Max Line stops along the way was resident/business responsibility. Makes no sense where rapid transit, LRT, and bike lane all converge with increasing population density in the inner city.
