Durham is an exceptionally inclusive and inviting city (all of the NC Triangle is, really) so I’m not surprised.

Not here to defend the guy, never will be, but I think that was actually frustration at the situation. I guess that’s what happens when you say “deal!” when nobody agreed to it.

Cool. Get rid of President’s Day.

As a former PCB resident, this extremely specific reference triggered me hard. (Bluesky triggered, meaning literally, unbelievably serious and not funny.)

BlueSky, never stop being you. Always be literal, never look for a joke, or a movie reference. Everything is serious all the time.

Probably sees his poll numbers are through the floor, even on his strongest policies, which was immigration. People rightfully want criminals removed, but not families and the vast majority of immigrants who contribute positively to their communities. The policies have been way too heavy-handed.

I don’t understand the argument of “we need more people bickering” to save the site. Truly confused why that is today’s Hot Take. I would love if politics dialed back a bit, and sports and entertainment were the focus here, but that’s just not the climate right now.

These comments are so crazy, people still breathlessly defending Biden when we should be forward-looking. He was a great president, but a bad candidate for 2024, and his late decision to drop out only hurt the party — didn’t unify it to win the election! Two things can be true at once.

Really bad at trolling but ok 👍

The MAGA brand at Midterms might struggle, cool guy.

“Not only will you have WAY LESS, it will cost WAY MORE” doesn’t seem to be a statement to win elections in the future.

What he said today doesn’t line up with this tough, which I was told was told the reason he won was to do this thing:

He’s just going to stick to his script on tariffs while he and his advisors actively roll them back in all of their messaging. Interesting tactic!

Honestly, as much as I don’t like this guy, he tried to reel Trump in on certain issues — maybe he can pop in the White House for a chat?

I think you and fellow senators should show us “side by side” charts on what new prices from all sorts of goods will be — appliances, cars, electronics — show in plain text what the prices will increase to.

We agree! My whole point from the original post is these columnists have grievances for things that don’t exist.
comment in response to post
My point was they aren’t “only” talking about these issues
and the topics of the events have been wide-ranging. This paragraph makes it seem like the only thing “the left” cares about is gender identity. They can care about many things!

“Too focused” and yet you don’t hear AOC or Bernie mentioning it as a highlight at their enormous rallies
excellent perspective there, NYT.

The “I am trying to save the country money by gutting thousands of jobs and essential services” guy doesn’t need this sort of briefing. I can’t figure out how on any planet this makes sense.

Clearly he didn’t like Trudeau for some superficial reason and he made it a dumb excuse to hate Canada
