One of the problems with ICE agents hiding behind masks is how it renders the individual wearing the mask invisible to even themselves, suddenly permitted to behave unlike themselves, and without consequence.

Also 🖕🏽 Mike Lee You are a despicable human being. I hope you step on legos barefoot everyday for the rest of your life.

Your daily opossum break:

I did an event in DC & there was a party for donors etc after. Was talking to 2 ppl & I said "Things are so bad." They said "No this is how it is. Things swing one way, then another. It's normal." That's when I realized why Dems are toothless. They have no idea what this is. Frogs boiling in water.

Interesting how becoming a father informs my memories of my dad. I knew he liked being a dad and a homebody, yet only now do I understand that the engine that drives that purpose is nearly inexhaustible (so long as every once in a while you eat chips while reading a book uninterrupted for ten min).

Counter programming to today’s events; my 3-year-old was just headbanging to Roger Miller in her swing.

Rick Steves finishing his speech in Edmonds. This is about halfway back in the crowd and to the side. The patriotism of this crowd was something else. And Steves' point is right -- change is going to come from an engaged center that stands in *solidarity* with the most vulnerable.

Tens of thousands of people, speaking together. Great to see so many families, my family out today. Seattle stands up.

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

I want to take a moment to share an excerpt from the Declaration of Independence's grievances against King George III. Sound familiar?

Apparently, it’s the U.S. Army’s anniversary tomorrow. So romantic! 🥰

Out of fairness, we all need to admit that it just so happens to be a coincidence that tomorrow is also Donald Trump‘s 250th birthday.

One funny thought I had was since Washington DC was designed to disorient invading forces, what if the military parade got lost tomorrow

I wonder if Trump sent in Marines and National Guard to protect federal buildings that DoGE was trying to sell

If I could travel back in time 15 years, I’d open a third wave coffee shop called Amper & Sand.

Senator Padilla spoke moments AFTER Kristi Noem outrageously stated she intended to “liberate” the City of Los Angeles from its democratically-elected mayor and governor. He had every right to confront her about her incendiary, hateful, and deeply stupid statement.

A lot of scary things lately but this is super, super - super-duper - bad. Violence against your peers in government is not a warning sign. It means you are already well into a different form of rule.

Move to hold the agents who assaulted a sitting senator in contempt of Congress. Call for articles of impeachment against Noem. Stop working on crypto legislation. Demonstrate the stakes of what is happening in LA with your actions.

"Liberate this city from socialists and burdensome leadership." If that's not regime change, I don't know what to tell you. The inflection point is now.

incredible Brian Wilson self-edit here:

Is it finally sinking in to the conservative Supreme Court justices that telling a president that they are immune to any law means they can defy the Constitution?

Isaac Asimov on, "If God is Dead, Everything is Permitted?"

W.E.B. Du Bois on Robert E. Lee: “Either he knew what slavery meant when he helped maim and murder thousands in its defense, or he did not. If he did not he was a fool. If he did, Robert Lee was a traitor and a rebel–not indeed to his country, but to humanity and humanity’s God.”

Find your closest rally on Saturday and go. You can tell your kids where you were on the other side of this. Outnumber him everywhere. www.nokings.org#map

Terry Moran worked at ABC for 28 years. Now, for calling Stephen Miller “hateful,” (which he 💯 is per his own family), ABC fired him to appease an authoritarian hypocrite who ran on “free speech.” This will have a chilling effect on all journalists. Fourth Estate fails. Authoritarianism advances.

This LA stuff reminds me of the protests back in 2020 in Seattle (CHAZ/CHOP) which pretty much took place in a 2 block area. Sending more people in who are armed for combat INVITES COMBAT. But Trump/Hegseth have never understood de-escalation tactics.

It’s a nice—if weird—thing that Trump is throwing a Pride Parade this weekend in DC.

What language does MAGA think ‘Los Angeles’ is?

Just beyond the pale, absolutely dangerous and corrosive. President basically rallying active duty US military for war against fellow Americans in an openly partisan way via @atrupar.com
