Hey Ryan, thanks for sharing! And thank you for making Keys & Curves real. Like real stuff that happens to us and our industry. The situation sucks, honestly the whole world situation sucks rn. But to answer your questions: yes, a lot of us are spooked and asking what will happen. I'll tag along...

I need to get in a habit like that. I feel like I can work so much better too... I can actually see my gradients now π

Yep! I double checked and the editor I was sending this to was complaining it was too cumbersome to nail the timing and such when you have to dive into another sequence to adjust the replacement media in the mogrt.
The workaround: add a PP adj layer and it will preserve the transparency!

Let me dig the project where I had to send glassmorphism mograph to PP to refresh my memory. I'll let you know!

Interesting! Never heard of it. Thanks for sharing!

If you don't know what colony you are talking about, this almost feels like a social experiment.

hmm.. Blending modes... Adjustment layers if we're feeling special. Imagine glassmorphism, with blurs that react to the background layer? A BG that will ultimately be swapped in PP. My current workaround is adding the adj. layer itself as media on the the Mogrt.

Or how you guys suggest handling the fact we don't know where the end user will ultimately overlay the graphic. How to avoid the editor throwing drop shadows everywhere π₯΄

Yay! Templates!
I've had some workarounds for transparency transferred over to PP (think frosted glass look for shape layers) but am curious if you guys have better solutions with the newer versions of AE.

Thanks for the recommendation, I never heard of Paul's rigged box before and it looks phenomenal.
I think you are right, I'll just try to start from scratch today and move the animation back in once I figure out the locked position. Thanks guys!!

That's what I thought too... but the parenting is really throwing me off. I think I need fresh eyes tomorrow... I have to admit using toComp and toWorld is the fastest way to get me confused lol.

Is the answer in the toComp expression? I can't see why it's not working π€

1. A text layer, with an animator for position, tracking, opacity. Anchor point is fixed to its center. It is parented to a master Null.
2. A simple shape layer with some trim paths action. Anchor point is fixed to right edge.
I need to make the shape layer stick to the left edge of the text.

As long as you make a point to do selects and rejects every time you take it out, so your catalog doesn't get overflowing with rejects...
And carry a stick to send it to your phone and edit on Lr mobile.
You can always process later... on a long plane ride.
But yeah, a process...

No problem! Hopefully @bsky.app will integrate this feature soon enough. They are tackling one request at a time. We know can add longer and larger vids, hopefully bookmarks are soon to follow.

Though it doesn't quite let you see the post... the best is to create your own custom feed that adds that search... including replies, links, and such. This way you see everything as you would in the other apps that have a bookmark system.

We used to have a list that allowed us to do that... but it looks like the person behind it let it go.
But the way around it is using this π emoji, then on the search bar typing in: <from:me π>
It will pull up all your "pinned" posts.

AI tools are 100% useful to help you debug and troubleshoot, but 9/10 times you need to take it by the hand like a little toddler and explain EXACTLY what you need.
Without the underlying knowledge that is nearly impossible, and you don't want to break Blender either. Learn the basics folks!

I made the add-on to improve my workflow after following @spencermagnusson.bsky.social 's UTILITY course on @cgcookie.bsky.social I can't recommend it enough!
A lot of people think tools like chatGPT are all you need for something like this, but this project showed me how not true that is...
