OMG! PLR you little beauty! Debut authors in the U.K. sign up for Public Lending Rights! PLR is wonderful especially the more books you write.

Ooh looks great Ashley!

In another timeline, there's a government putting huge funding into schools & libraries, giving teachers & librarians all the resources they need to help kids become readers - reading for themselves, thinking for themselves, creating a better world for us all. That's the timeline I want to live in.

The kindle edition of Dream Hunters is only 99p on the Big River site - t.ly/VB7U2 #kidlituk

I wrote about the ‘F word’ for writers - failure! Why we shouldn’t fear it or feel shamed by it and what we can learn from the *scientists* Thanks to the team at SailFest and the work of @melanieistefan.bsky.com www.sailfest.org.uk/sailfest-blo... #booksky #ukkidlit #ukpoets #academicsky

We've had another flurry of new followers 👋 We're a cute little independent bookshop for children and young adults. We have a tea party on the ceiling and you're completely immersed in a Wonderland when you set foot inside. We're in Retford, North Notts. Say hi! #kidlituk

Just got back from a 2 week trip to India. Was lovely to be back and to visit places that inspired my book as well as seeking inspiration for new things! Bustling Mumbai, the citadel fort of Jaisalmer and laid back Goa.

The wonderful @bookshop-org-uk.bsky.social allow you to do your shopping at the absolute last minute and still support indie bookstores! uk.bookshop.org/shop/gitaral...

If anyone wants me I'll be selling you/your books - we have plenty - and you can put them in a bag and carry them home rather than chasing round all the neighbours looking in bins, ever hopeful that you will find your parcel.

Author goal achieved - finding a copy of Dream Hunters in Mumbai in one of the biggest bookshops here, Kitab Khana, and getting to sign them!

some conversations this morning have me wondering: book folks, what do you wish there were more of in how books are covered? and by that I mean: lists? reviews? columns? themed essays? straight-up recommendations? something else I've never thought of?

As I edit book 2 I wanted to journey back to where the story began. I’m so grateful to my agent, editors and publisher for seeing something in the story and to the booksellers, teachers and librarians who put the books in front of the children it’s written for…/1

School visits are one of my favourite things. Great day yesterday with over 200 year 6/7 children. And lovely to catch up with bookseller Sanchita and teacher Zareena both wonderful humans in the kidlit world!

Hi I’m an author of childrensbooks and write middle grade fiction. My debut Dream Hunters came out August 1st. Currently editing book 2 and ruminating on the next book idea. In my day job I work as a children’s doctor and researcher but in this space I’m mainly talking about kidlit and my writing.

Hello! Reposting a thread of starter packs to help anyone spending their Sunday trying to find UK children’s book people. Most are being updated so if you checked them before, you may find new additions. #kidlitUK These two are (mainly) UK children's authors go.bsky.app/GLnmxCv go.bsky.app/3hvsJPY

I’ve read some cracking books this month -here are some! From magical MG fantasies to a tale of a mystical creature which needs saving from big pharma to a heartfilled YA of a boy with big dreams - a great month of books. Getting my TBR pile diminished means new books are needed soon, right?!

Please, if you are able, support Independent bookshops. They are the literary & social hubs of our high streets and communities. Without their continued support, we simply wouldn't be around to publish . Thank you.

I used to do this in the early days of twitter so, before this place becomes feral...got any questions about children's publishing/writing? I won't have all the answers but I worked in publishing for 15 years before going full time as an author, here for all your demystification needs. #Kidlituk

Dream Hunters is out in the Netherlands today! 🥳
