It might, but A. I have no plans to switch credit cards or take out a loan any time soon and B. I kept my original account when I opened the HSBC one - something that Martin suggests as a strategy

A while back, I opened an account with HSBC for the very generous incentives @martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com flagged. Recently switched that account to Lloyds and got another dollop of free money! It's easy, do it.
