You sure about that? 🧐

I remember using it a couple of times when I had to have generic types in my components. But I didn't use it in other ways.

That would be a nice addition indeed. It certainly had its weaknesses, but export let foo: string; was very ergonomic for declaring and typing props. Nowadays adding types to props feels like Like deadweight in a way.

This is a good point. Although for me personally, the way props have to be typed is the larger issue here. But other than that I'm really Happy with the changes overall.

I agree with that and it obviously works. Even knowing about their clickbaity nature, I find it hard to resist clicking at times.

My proposals sadly didn't make it, but I plan to go anyway if I can arrange it.

....and that's a wrap for this year. Thanks for following along, everyone! There's a bunch of stuff that we didn't quite manage to squeeze in this month, so keep an eye out in 2025 for more good things. Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

Day 17 β€” until today, intellisense would often fail when you were in the middle of writing components, because Svelte's parser crashed on syntax errors. We just fixed that. Install svelte@latest, make sure your extensions are up to date, and feel the wind in your hair as you write your components

Day 16 β€”Β `$app/state`, a modern Svelte 5 state-based replacement for SvelteKit's `$app/stores` module. No more clunky `$` prefix when reading values, just fine-grained state that works everywhere, even outside component files! 🎁 docs svelte.dev/docs/kit/$ap... 🎁 tutorial svelte.dev/tutorial/kit...

Great that there are people out there, who want to learn Svelte this way! At the conferences in Germany where I offered workshops the past year, it looked a little different. Either it was cancelled in advance or I had only like a literal handful of participants or less...

Day 15 β€” the new `$inspect.trace(...)` rune gives you debugging superpowers. Add it to a function that runs inside a derived or effect, and you'll see detailed information about what caused it to re-run 🎁 docs svelte.dev/docs/svelte/... 🎁 demo svelte.dev/playground/d...

Day 11 β€” a whole new module, for getting reactive views of window properties like innerWidth, innerHeight, scrollX, scrollY and so on. Like the bindings on <svelte:window> but with less boilerplate 🎁 docs svelte.dev/docs/svelte/... 🎁 demo svelte.dev/playground/8...

Not sure, but I believe alert couldn't possibly part of the web when it launched because JavaScript was originally only released in 95 or 96. But I could be wrong here.

Glad you did! Svelte made web development more fun and enjoyable to me!

Yes! Do it! It's a fabulous record! Battle in the Sky is also great. The EP it's on (Days of the fallen Sun) ist somewhat of a musical bridge between the previous record and the one above. All of them are great, though and can perfectly be listened to back to back.
