Do they not see ANY use for a federal government? I don’t get their vision of a nation

My principal is a huge proponent of bringing AI into the classroom. Sigh.

Who are these people working for ICE? We need a campaign to out them. Their families, friends and neighbors should know their names.

Don't lay this at the feet of educators. Plenty of educated people voted for him. They wanted what he was selling. Educators can teach a lot, but they can't defuse that much greed and racism.

Is anyone reputable even in the room anymore? I thought they had blocked a lot of the MSM from being in the press pool.

So, they can't all be good actors, right? I mean, they must really believe in this stuff. It's either that or they deserve the Academy Award.

Holy shit. Is everyone out of their minds?!

Make your words work for you. If you say, “He walked into a room.” that tells me almost nothing. But if you say, “he trudged into the room” or “he skipped into the room” the vibrant verbs are working to give the reader more information.

Teacher of seniors here--this is the time of year I get asked, "Do you think I can hide in your closet until class starts?"

Will be interesting to see how they blame DEI for this one.

I do all that, too. I don’t spend time checking; just say something when I see it. Had an 8th grader use AI on a 500-word This I Believe essay. Her own beliefs. Could have been about anything—loving tacos, hating Taylor Swift, whatever. She chose to use AI. It’s depressing.

As a teacher of writing, I don’t think it is quite as easy as you suggest to craft lessons where students can’t use AI. Basically, I’m going back to in-class analysis on paper and visual/audio projects. Would love to hear others’ successes.

If it makes you feel even better, I asked my 17 year old how old she thought you were and she said, "Probably around 60." Guess those midichlorians are good for the skin.

Everyone I know wants to do something, but we don't know where to start. Sure, we will avoid spending money on the 28th, but that seems ineffective, like spitting into the ocean (with the wind in our face). Harness the power of all of us who are so concerned and lets DO SOMETHING.

Omg, I love how torn up he must have been all this time about being shunned by the people who create beauty, laughter, and joy. He will end up sitting on that balcony surrounded by whatever crappy people he can find to accept his award. What a hollow victory.

I agree with you that students who are exposed to other viewpoints will widen their own, but I fear that is the exact reason this suit has been brought. They want their children to have the same narrow beliefs they have, no matter the truth or reality. Books teach empathy, but they don’t want that.

Jeez. These two are right out of central casting for the asshole antagonist in an early '90s John Hughes flick.
