Tear gas is not a nerve agent or a "nerve gas" and to say so is needlessly inflammatory and also risks someone getting the wrong treatment which could kill them. Please delete.

Don’t treat a tear gas victim with atropine. CS, OC, and other riot control agents are not nerve agents and you might kill the victim

Your best and brightest will wave our flag harder than the flag of their birth, they will forge their past and our shared present into a new identity, and their children will be American.

it's not like pepper spray is a wildly exotic substance, y'know? i feel like the properties are pretty well understood, especially by people who are certified trainers for it like Tam

Wife: Could you not call our daughter "Underturd"? Me: Huh? Wife: Last time in Louisiana you called our daughter Underturd. My folks are still talking about it. Me: I did not. Wife: Mom said it was when she was climbing the sofa.. Me: UNDETERRED. I said she was UNDETERRED!

Folks- threatening to activate the NG, *actually signing the memorandum*, and then chickening out before they even get to the armory is probably the worst of both worlds from this standpoint. Just a profound show of weakness both ways.

It’s funny how many people in my immediate family both think I’m Brave For Working In A Warzone (Seattle 2020, no it wasn’t) and also refuse to advocate for me to make my job safer (larger staffing ratios)

Anyone who wants it, here's a non-paywall link to my 2019 column on tear gas in Nature, the world's most prestigious scientific journal. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

not only is this not illegal, this seems like a direct attack on the concept of "consulate"

or, like, soap. do none of you have vivid memories of the pain of getting soap in your eyes from when you were a small child?

There's actually an extremely large scholarly literature about this. With some regularity, dictators order their troops to shoot protestors, the troops are like "wtf no," and then the dictator falls. I'll dig ho and dump some cites below in a second

Remember, folks - Anyone on here who is advocating for violent acts in the immediate future against identifiable individuals or groups is functionally a fed. Whether they know it or not.

Hi, certified Oleoresin capsicum instructor here. Cold running water. That’s it. Everything else is a wives tale. And for fuck’s sake don’t degrease your eyeballs with dish soap.

related to Tdot's point: There's maybe 50k militia movement people in America... total. There is no unified command and a big chunk only really wants to larp in the woods. And their paranoia makes recruitment and replenishment difficult.

Tear gas and pepper spray are not acids. They don’t cause a burning sensation because they are acids. Using antacids is a placebo at best and, in your eyes, a cause of injury
