It’s good to see me, isn’t it? 💜✨ Yes, yes, the rumors are true — we are OFFICIALLY launching here on Bluesky! In case you forgot, we’re a place to buy books online where every purchase supports local bookstores, not billionaires. Thanks for being here 🙌🏽

The Data Bill returns to the Lords today We continue to support the Kidron amendment around transparency + AI Thanks to our members who have written to their MPs + to WGGB activists who have taken part in protests - good to see them pictured in this BBC story today! www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Clip from The Golden Girls (1989): Before being diagnosed with #MECFS, Dorothy tells her doctor she’s had months of exhaustion, fevers, muscle weakness, memory problems, and more. Her tests are normal, so he dismisses it as loneliness or depression.

Cc: @gralefrit.bsky.social and @dj-acid-reflux.bsky.social: This may be useful to you. I believe a couple other folk have been posting info they believe will help your case against Unbound. Sadly can’t find it now I want it. Will repost should I come across it again. Meanwhile, hope this helps.

UNBOUND AUTHORS: I’m speaking to a solicitor about our fine mess. If you have ANY correspondence with the company (beyond the “Dear Author” letters we all got) in 2024 about nonpayment or about the company’s financial stability, could I see it? I’m opening my DMs for this (don’t make me regret that)

Someone reposted a thread on here yesterday with information about how to deal with the Unbound publishing debacle. Thought I had shared it. Sadly I didn’t. If anyone has a link to it and the thread it links into I would be grateful. Could help writers caught up in this crappy situation. ❤️

#ScritpSky Okay screenwriters, for those of you who knew me at the other place and for those who did not. I used to do virtual table reads during the pandemic, but people lost interest after awhile. I’m considering doing them again, IF THERE IS ENOUGH INTEREST. *read attached comment

Rewatched last year’s Christmas special. Can easily see how they could cast Nicola Coughlan in the lead role: that last shot in the finale was a rouse. Note Gatwa’s final words: “Joy to the world.” In a way ‘Joy’ regenerated into that bright star. He looks at a distant bright star as he goes.

FWIW still think Keeley Hawes would make a fabulous Time Lord. #DoctorWho

Daft theory for the conclusion of #DoctorWho finale No: 73869: I don’t think that last shot is what we’re meant to think it is. Perhaps there’s a clue in the line about “Joy to the world.” Think back to last year’s Christmas special. And yes, I’m probably overthinking this, but that’s the fun of it.

WARNING! SPOILER ALERT. Thrilled to see Jodie make a guest appearance. Always felt she didn’t receive the credit she deserved as the thirteenth Doctor. #DoctorWho

Oh, my giddy aunt! How do you explain that ending? Wowsers! #DoctorWho

Bloody hell! #DoctorWho

When you receive the email you’ve been dreading, about how your outstanding royalties will now *not* be honoured by your ex-publisher’s new shiny identity, they try to reassure you by saying this person or that person on the board is “working for free” and “not taking a salary”… >>

Submission in. In the lap of the gods now. Now I can focus on celebrating my late Mum’s life tomorrow. Hard to believe it’s been 10 years since we lost her. On Sunday its head back down again and onto the next writing project. No rest for the wicked! 🤭

Somebody’s nicked his chair (for writing purposes). So he’s sleeping where his human mum likes to sit. “Hope she’s going to feed me soon. Doesn’t she know it’s my teatime?” #catsofbluesky

The atmosphere in the room takes a sharp turn when, midway through Steve's TED Talk, he confesses that he actually doesn't know anyone named Ted.

If someone commissions my supernatural adventure tv series, you can find out what REALLY happened 😉

Dear #filmsky friends, my Long Covid can get me very sleepy some days, what are some gentle films that would still hold my attention, and ideally do not last more than 90 mins or have subtitles (my eyes get tired)? Though French language is OK as I am fluent. Any era.

Imagine you’re a script reader or a producer going through a pile of scripts, trying to find that gem of a script. Yes, it may be a rough diamond that needs some polishing, but it has great promise. These guys already have a huge slew of scripts they pass on. Why give them another reason? 🙄

Precisely! How in hell can you exhibit your unique writer’s ‘voice’ through generative AI? Completely counterproductive to the entire point of being a writer. Nobody, and no *thing,* can write in precisely the way you do. AI won’t make your script stand out. #ScriptSkyUK #ScriptSky

This is literally what I've been saying all along. Reshaping a draft into what you want it to be is a lot of work. Choices get embedded and it's hard to change them once they're in there. But if YOU wrote the draft, it will be much closer to what you wanted than if gen AI did it.
