Lovely conversation. Sounds like a wonderful book to read, and also like an inspiring journaling prompt.

Just called @heinrich.senate.gov and @lujan.senate.gov to express my concern about this land grab. Would affect water rights, development of sensitive areas, access to recreational areas. The Republicans only care about mining, drilling, over-grazing; no understanding of the value of natural lands.

Oooff. My dad introduced me to The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Took me a while to get those out of my brain. I started reading Tom Robbins in college; that helped. Then a friend in grad school introduced me to Robert Anton Wilson, hail Eris!

It’s from a collection published around 2004 by the UU Musicians Network. I was part of the publications committee that produced the book. Yay, tuba!!!

Wore my Bluesky "Mundus sine Caesaribus" t-shirt yesterday for NM Mt Club trail maintenance day up at Comales Canyon in Carson Nat'l Forest. Such a gorgeous area.
Good music at UUABQ this morning. Had lunch at Il Vicino; heading home soon for a pizza-induced nap. Maybe gym later, or maybe not.

indeed! one of our youth plays snare cadences and another is a saxophone whiz. I'll bet several gr'ups still have clarinets, trumpets, piccolos sitting around.

I would _love_ to do a marching band arrangement. I know where to find at least one trombone!

I think of it as a Broadway showstopper, but I guess it would also sound great played by a marching band. Years ago, I came up with choreography for it, with big jazz hands. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zohK...

My first thought on seeing your video was "looks like a cormorant, but they're ocean birds." Guess not all of 'em.

Julie Andrews tells the story of shooting the opening scene, a helicopter shot of her spinning in the meadow right before the cut to her face and “The hills are alive…with the sound of myuusick.” Right after the cut, the helicopter downdraft knocked her flat, many times for many takes.

I think the UPS tracker map is bullshit. I’ve been renewing the map for 2 hours and the little truck icon has been circling all around my house, sometimes within a block or two, but NO PACKAGE! Grrrrr.

Jay, jay, plant me an acorn
Acorn, acorn, grow me an oak
Year, year, fledge me a jay
(I will fledge you a jay that will plant you 1,000 acorns, that will each grow 1,000 oaks, that will each live 1,000 years, that will each fledge a bright-backed, blue-winged, forest- making jay)

Jays are good at planting forests, too.

Nothing like looking at the UPS tracking map (“This map updates automatically.”), seeing the little truck icon sitting two blocks from your house and NOT MOVING for 30 minutes, then moving further away. Just give me a realistic 1-hour window, please?

Instead of protests tomorrow, I’m volunteering with NM Mt. Club and NMCRAG to help with clean-up and trail maintenance at Comales Canyon up near Taos. With NPS and NFS cuts, citizen volunteers have to help save national lands. Wonder who’s going to take care of all the trash and poop, though.
