We end with some reflection: where do we, as LGBT+ people in HE, best put our limited energy in the critical political moment we find ourselves in? We don't manage to answer this one, other than reminding ourselves to keep present the question of who is benefitting most from our work.

We argue that whilst most participants were striving to provide solidarity, community based care for other LGBT+ people, this was difficult within the uncaring system of the university; and often hard to disentangle from the labour readily demanded of marginalised people by the institution.

Really appreciate the work you have done summarising this, thank you.

Sarah Owen asks if she were to join Rachel's hypothetical walking group, would Baroness Faulkner be able to tell by looking at her if she was cis or trans?
Falkner concedes that she would not be able to tell.

Falkner says that mixed-sex services are not banned so they can, they just can't call themselves a single-sex organisation.
Rachel Taylor flatly asks if she wanted to set up a women's walking organisation that wanted to include trans women and exclude men, is she allowed?
Falkner is very flustered

It seems that Baroness Falkner regards any kind of resistance to the EHRC's segregation policies, however "peaceful" and "orderly", as a potential threat of violence. This says a lot about what feels to me to be an extremely violent mindset on her part.

I've been at every protest outside the EHRC offices in Glasgow. The first two had community stewards ensuring the pavements and road remained clear, and the accessible entrance to the building wasn't blocked. The third had a very small number of people down to support three trans kids on a balcony.

Worth bearing in mind also that the EHRC board meeting was due to take place in Glasgow 14-15 May - a full two weeks *before* police assaulted protesters following a separate silent demonstration by Trans Kids Deserve Better.
