…..and most people hate Ted Cruz…

People like Carlson aren’t left or right, they are with ratings - whatever gives them ratings. Skewering Cruz is probably good for ratings because left or right, most Americans believe in isolationism. Invasion of Iran isn’t going to be popular with anyone.

Honestly, I don’t understand why people don’t recognize that this has been a decades-long project on the right that started with Newt and Rush.

I think MAGA has had such meteoric rise because its leaders say what their voter base is either already saying or thinking/intending/doing. Mike Lee is merely articulating his base’s thoughts. He is not the problem. Two Americas - one is happy about political violence and other is saddened by it.

Glad they’re ok. My kids’ grandad is in Tehran. Normal people with people who love them are the ones suffering in all this. All best thoughts to your parents.

Regardless of your stances - I didn't look into them - I'm glad your parents are okay, internet stranger!

Neither side is a political monolith. There are Israelis and Iranians who do not seek conflict and there are plenty of innocent civilians on both sides. I hope you can support innocent lives wherever they are.

I know “thoughts and prayers” is fake and performative, but the fact that we’ve reached a point where elected representatives are openly celebrating the deaths of other elected representatives is probably the clearest sign that we’ve crossed a very scary rubicon there’s ever been.

Idk what she’s thinking but you really think Rs are going to heed the call and turn down the rhetoric? Only if it was that simple.

You are very right. The Democratic Party is not a political party, not in the way they exist in other countries. Here in the US, it is a corporation staffed with PR experts, pollsters, and professional spokespeople for capitalism.

There was a lot of (valid) concern over Executive overreach in the years after 9/11 - open auth of war, warrantless snooping, data hoovering, torture - most people ignored it all including Democrats. The rot runs deep, Trump didn’t pop out of a box magically, he’s been in the making very long.

Uh! After Kent State shootings, almost 60% blamed the students and Nixon’s ratings were well above 55%. A very large number of people were always clueless and will remain so.

Yep, Trump is the kid who said, screw it and smashed the candy jar to grab it all at once but it isn’t like rest of the politicians were wholeheartedly and feverishly working for the people, all this while. Between the three branches, the rot runs deep.

This is a dog💩 take.
Israel was raping Palestine when I was a child. Albert Einstein refused to lead Israel knowing it was on a path of genocide.
Trump is a symptom, not the cause.
The bipartisan reality of US government has a nasty body count.

The idealist in me says yes to this but the realist in me asks, how/why did we get here and what next? Are Hamas, Netanyahu, Trump or Putin causes of the chaos in their part of the world or a symptom of underlying decay?

Maybe.
Maybe not.
Only Iranians can make that joice.
And the Mullahs are doing everything to prevent that.
So: they fear it.
It could be a possibility.
May God protect all Iranians with good hearts.
And help those who are seeking peace and God.
May there be peace - for all the world, too.

Not just Israelis, all reasonable minds should be really concerned about what’s happening in the Middle East cuz before you know it, we will all get sucked into it. It’s one thing for Israel to defend itself against Hamas and quite another to launch this attack on Iran.

Sorry for the hate you are receiving for sharing your experience. Try and ignore it. We need more first hand information from Israel and other places - not less. I hope you and your loved ones stay safe.

An old saying comes to mind.
While you were busy judging others you left your closet door open and all your skeletons fell out.

1 dead Palestinian child is too many.
1 dead Israeli child is too many.
The question is how to minimize the number of innocent deaths, because every single one is too many.

Thanks for sharing your first hand experience of what’s happening in Israel. I read your substack blog and couldn’t agree more - Israelis should feel safe within their borders but this war *now* seems to be waged by IDF to primarily keep Netanyahu in power. There seems to be no strategic goal here.

I am not cheering for the Iranian regime. I am well aware of their oppression. But best i understand, yes, there is a large group of urban Iranians that hate the regime but the regime remains popular with rural/conservatives and urban poor/rural-migrants.
comment in response to

The assumption that because Iranians hate their regime, they will rise up against it while being attacked by Israel is the same line of thinking that took Bush Jr to Iraq.

Is it possible that both are true? That Iran sponsors terrorism and threatens Israel while Israel is also feeding the fire by terrorizing Palestinian civilians and attacking Iran? I don’t the the two are mutually exclusive. IDF going to occupy Yemen, Iran and Lebanon simultaneously?

Please read intelligence agencies and officials quoted in the news going back about 15 years. After the attacks on Natanz, Iran apparently spread the facilities far and deep. Good chance that Israel doesn’t hit them all.
