European Scot. Happy that the Tories are out, but not expecting to see many progressive policies from New New Labour. Independence remains the best choice for Scotland #FBPE

Five years ago today, the UK left the EU. Johnson's faux-Churchillesque speech on the day ended with these lines. How did that work out?

If they act like cartoon villains, dress like cartoon villains and speak like cartoon villains... it's because they're cartoon fucking villains.

How obnoxious do you have to be before Steve Bannon describes you as racist and totally evil?

Just heard a deluded Labour MP on Today claiming that the best way to stop the small boats is to go after the smuggling gangs. Nonsense the best way to deal with it is to establish a safe route for refugees and work internationally to remove the horrors which cause refugees.

It’s not just Musk - we need to stop British billionaires bankrolling our politics Keir Starmer needs to introduce new laws to cap individual donations and bar corporate political funding before it’s too late democracyforsale.substack.com/p/its-not-ju...

This needs to be taken very seriously. All donations that originate from abroad, no matter who is the final donor, should be banned. Only UK citizens should be allowed to donate to British political organisations

Elmo spent Billions buying the “Dark-side” as well as allegedly influencing the American election. There are also rumours that he wants to impact future UK elections by supporting #FarageRiots in his dream to become PM. What Elmo can’t do (yet) is to “turn back the clock” on photos like this…..

As BBC Scotland News promotes The Daily Telegraph in their 'Scotlands Papers' item, they are suppressing this :-

Just imagine if you were in a position to end poverty, everywhere, for everyone, overnight. And instead you chose to engage in political games that enrich you, engender division and further impoverish the worst off.

Marty Baron, former exec editor of WaPo on the decision not to endorse Kamala Harris: “This is cowardice, with democracy as its casualty. Donald Trump will see this as an invitation to further intimidate owner Jeff Bezos (and others). Disturbing spinelessness at an institution famed for courage.”

This is absolute madness. Carbon capture and storage has failed time and again. Labour has slashed reliable green programmes, to pour vast sums of our money into a complete crock. The only possible explanation is lobbying by fossil fuel companies.🧵 www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Well, looks like I'm out of that hole just in time. This is absolutely disgusting and provokes my first (but undoubtedly not my last) use of the word cuntcake on this platform because that's what he is. Why do this?

Badenoch's admiration of Musk says all you need to know about her.

'This isn’t correct. The full basic state pension is expected to increase by about £350 next year. Mr McFadden may have intended to refer to the new state pension, which is expected to increase by about £460.' fullfact.org/economy/basi...

Trump says he will not run again if he loses election… I guess because it’s very hard to run an election campaign from prison 😉 www.bbc.com/news/article...

So the Badenoch charm bomb has exploded again. In her video she claims she doesn’t pick fights… while also being spectacularly rude, goading and dismissive. In her head, this a ‘strength’. Rather than obnoxious unprofessionalism.

The world would be a better place if we were human first, instead of German, British, English, selfish, childish.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/arti... Great to see some Scottish good news in the media.

Look at this charmer… Jumps on the ‘two tier policing’ bandwagon, promises to leave the ECHR and commits to bring back a ‘more robust’ version of the Rwanda policy. Once a Remainer, now a far right menace. Always an opportunist. A truly horrible, unprincipled man.

After too much dithering, I have decided that I can no longer implicitly support the fascist Musk, and I have deactivated my X account.

if Tim Walz's 24 years of military service has you howling with outrage, wait until you hear about the five-time draft dodger who paid a quack doctor to gin up a bullshit note about imaginary bone spurs

No. Lee Anderson made racist, Islamophobic remarks about Khan and London. He was suspended for refusing to apologise for them. No such action has been taken against Braverman who made similar remarks the day before. You can’t call yourself ‘News’ and mislead like this.

Rishi Sunak should take action against Liz Truss for appearing alongside the far-right commentator Steve Bannon and spreading conspiracy theories about the “deep state” ousting her from power, Labour has said. IMO, Truss and her backers are dangerous. Her rantings cannot continue unchecked. 🧐

Truss, Braverman, Jenrick and Anderson, have made Islamophobic speeches this week. It is utterly disgusting that Rishi Sunak allows such dangerous and divisive, hate inciting, racist, Islamophobic politicians  to openly spout their hate.😡 He should sack them all. They shouldn’t be in the HoC.

I’m struggling to see this article as anything other than a parody. They quote someone who is living “hand to mouth” to pay the private school fees, “partly because the family moved to a larger house fairly recently.”

Never forget that the Tory party think that Anderson represents their voters. They want to identify with this racist, ignorant, simple-minded thug because that’s the Tory base. Sunak is fine with that. He’ll do nothing because he’s a cynical, unprincipled, irresponsible coward.

Toynbee is right, I think “Forget their claim to want at least one flight off the ground before the election. Privately they pray to be prevented (but not by their own party). To be stopped by the opposition: that’s the real dream. “ www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The Rwanda plan won’t work and flights won’t be taking off any time soon, so The Times consoles Tory bigots by reporting that govt’s hired an aircraft hangar for guards to practice forcing migrants on to planes. “It’s a big logistical challenge” No. It’s a brutalising horrorshow.

With its Rwanda plan, government attempts to further limit judicial oversight may lead to clashes with the UK’s rule of law and constitution

So I guess people in Rwanda will be celebrating today that overnight, their status has improved from unsafe to safe. Next our MPs will legislate Ukraine isn't at war, Gazza doesn't exist and that ice doesn't melt.

Lee Anderson is upset at Labour MPs laughing at him just wait till he hears about the rest of the nation
