Through May, Baltimore has recorded 54 homicides, the fewest through the first 5 months of a year on record. The previous low: 65 homicides, in 1977. At this point in 2022, just three years ago, there had been 138 killings, and in 2017 there had been 146 people killed.

My frustration re: Ange isn’t that we are considering sacking him, even though I’m Ange In. It’s that the rumors are not the style for which we already started our rebuild. We can’t rebuild off a rebuild again. Pick a style, build to that, if you want to sack Ange find someone who plays that way.

It took me four months to finally open @peterbeinart.bsky.social’s book, How to be Jewish After the Destruction of Gaza, and I plowed through it in two days. It’s incredibly well-researched and Peter knows his Torah and Talmud. If nothing else, it made me feel less crazy and alone.
