Hey man, show some respect! That's one whole Standard Galactic Fortnight!

Im gonna have to go with "Shook me awake at 8am to ask me to drink a case of PBR before 10 (tossing the cans on the ground) while I build a toaster triggered ribe goldberg crossbow using a guitar stand, bungee cord, steak knife and whatever else I could find in her apartment."
It was a weird day.

Clearly you didn't play Bloodborne at launch. That shit will have you practicing patience so much you can ALMOST deal with a two year old screaming in the middle of a restaurant.

C'mon, you can do better than this.
Meet the Spartans
Movie 43
Z & 00
Trash Humpers
Serbian Film
Battlefield Earth
Showdown at Area 51...
If you're gonna bottom out, SCRAPE that bottom.

My nice thing is they managed to cast the perfect Victor Freis. Unfortunately they cast him as a joke scientist who gets killed off in the first 5 minutes.

Again, sorry for the tone. Normally I like what you have to say. Just this particular talking point has been bugging me a lot lately because it doesn't make sense.
comment in response to
post
That's exactly what i was saying. It's a mindless stream of untargeted endless bullshit. It's a swarm.
I wouldn't care what you call it, except calling it a distraction carries the implication that OUR focus should be elsewhere specific. That's just not true. That's all i meant to be saying.
comment in response to
post
Sorry about the tone. Just tired of this nonsense idea.
I mean, what SPECIFICALLY do people think this is a distraction FROM? Everything can't be distractions from everything else. That's not how misdirection works.
What specific goal are you imagining that you think he's focused on? Seriously?
comment in response to
post
No individual point is "the goal". (For him anyway.) It's just his way of handling problems. Always was. This is the political power equivalent of him just doing what he wants and when problems arise just throwing money until they go away. It really is that simple. Stop outsmarting yourself FOR him.
comment in response to
post
I know you want it to be more complicated than that. You want to feel like you're getting outsmarted. That this is some kind of clever plan. Because the alternative is you're losing to someone with the strategic mind of a fucking zombie. Bad news. That's what it is. Pretending otherwise is dumb.
comment in response to

*sigh*
No dude. Enough with this. It's not a distraction. Stop applying thought to someone we know has no impulse control. It's just swarming. Literally the most basic strategy ever. None of it is a distraction from anything else. It's a firehose of so much bullshit you can't fight it.

It's not even his first war crime as president against Iran. If anything this is fallout FROM that crime.

Which if you actually READ what Chenoweth said seems to me to be "when those in power have shifted from ignoring the voice of the people to suppressing it."
Which is exactly where we are right now.
comment in response to
post
That takeaway is untrue and is not at all supported by Chenoweth's work.
If anything the study is better used as a bellwether for when the people SHOULD shift away from non-violence if change is necessary.
comment in response to
post
Her takeaway was that non-violent protests are effective so long as people's voices are still being listened to. And as such non-violent protests ARE effective and important for affecting change.
But that got warped into "violence doesn't work".
comment in response to
post
I wish more people had understood this faster.
It hasn't left me much hope that we're going to make it out of this because it's a strong indication that those same people are going to continue misunderstanding Chenoweth's studies on non-violence.
comment in response to

Why are people still asking this question as if it hasn't been answered a thousand times already?
It is because for profit news organizations WANT this. They profit from the chaos. Fearmongering gets clicks and they will ALWAYS support the actions that give them money. That is the answer.

I'd like to go on record that not only to i second those steps, I fully support including "hand the motherfucker over to them to face justice".
He wanted this shit, he should be the one to deal with it.

My answers always been "Well, yeah. Most of my friends aren't fucking dumb and i trust their judgement. If they're jumping they've already done a risk assessment and decided jumping is the better option."

Noted, but im not particularly inclined to care about LASD or LAPD vehicles either at this point. Stop shooting at my friends who are acting peacefully. Stop using weapons that are literally banned from war. Til then I'm disinclined to divest myself of any fornicative expletives.

For anyone who doesn't know: the Appeal to Heaven flag is used by Seven Mountains Dominionists. They are a self professed literal death cult whose STATED GOAL is to forcably bring on the apocalypse. They want EVERYONE dead. Themselves included.
And this was also the flag flown at Alito's home.
comment in response to

It should be a legal requirement for journalists to also point out this was flown at Alito's HOUSE.

Reshoots aren't just common, they're standard fucking procedure. They've been a thing on literally every serious project I or anyone i know has been involved in.
But for some reason it's bewildering to people when i tell them it doesn't mean "movie bad".

They don't think it's a problem because the entire point of trying to stir up violent protests is to fill prisons with political opponents that can be used for slave labor. They didn't empty the prisons of migrants without plans to replace them.

Someone should really make a map comparing these protests to the Jan fires.
Maybe a caption that says:
"If you didn't care abot these(fires) don't pretend you give a fuck about these (protests)."
Id do it, but very limited access to graphics programs r n.
