Elli-Mae McGlone follow this playing the impressionistic Sicilienne from Duruflé’s Suite, squeezing out every available gentle colour from the @stchadsbirm.bsky.social Cathedral’s Walker Organ.

Godfrey Leung finished the programme with August Gottfried Ritter’s organ Sonata No. 2.
Godfrey suggested that this exciting and dramatic work deserves to be heard more often in the UK and he certainly made a very good case for this through his compelling performance.

As someone who remembers the days of printing emails, ‘typing up’ documents to the computer after editing on paper, pencil eraser and manuscript paper for composing, and photocopying being the only easy way to break copyright law, these are really interesting insights, @liam-hodgetts.bsky.social.

Your blog on this piece, and Howells’ tempo markings in it, is wonderfully insightful… a must-read to all who play this work. (Though it may mean fewer performances, at least from discerning players…🫢)
