This is entirely accurate. One nice thing about having the PRC as a strategic rival is that it clearly states its technological goals. Those are currently the "new three": electric vehicles, solar cells, and lithium-ion batteries.

A “shift” never happened. A chaotic raid at a worksite and a warrantless sweep in our communities have the same outcome. Bullshit rhetoric aside, they’re hunting us down while we’re trying to feed you. Who’s actually in charge?

Adding to the "X vs BlueSky" debate, here are the replies to a post on X today flagging unusual options trading. Every reply was obvious bot spam pumping stock trading scam artists, the kind of stuff algorithms should easily clean up. Between the spam were ads. X is unusable.

call for a vote to censure or call for a vote to expel. protract the story and explain why it matters.

I wrote about how the 2020 protests hurt Trump politically. I also wrote about how counternarratives about left-wing violence are just spin — and wildly at odds with the reality of extremist violence. Gift link: wapo.st/3SOEv6e

you would not believe how stupid some of the AI/China defense analysis stories I have heard privately already are

An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. He fears that if he returns to Afghanistan, he would be tortured or even killed, @nbcsandiego.com reports.

This is an absolute betrayal of promises made by Congress to protect the people who protected American soldiers. A betrayal by people who think American greatness is based on half-assed military parades rather than being a credible ally to those that risked their lives for America.

The United States has sent a 79-year-old man with a limited vocabulary, whose face is painted in orange pigment and hair is I-Don't-Know-What to speak to America's interests at the G-7. He will do so in incomplete or broken sentences. He will then report back as to who liked him and who he liked.

Well, that didn't last long. DHS told staff it was reversing guidance issued last week that agents were not to conduct immigration raids at farms, hotels and restaurants. Shadow President Stephen Miller wins again. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

Would be kind of funny if Gov. Newsom turned around and deployed the California National Guard back in LA to protect the population from masked, unidentified ICE agents seizing people off the streets.

🔥WATCH: “If putting 8 & 9 year olds behind bars has become very common for you, maybe you’re the one who should be in f*cking prison.” Tennessee/RUTHERFORD COUNTY ex-judge Donna Davenport) featured in Oliver’s juvenile justice system takedown.😳 Full: youtu.be/Pya-kt5M7uY?...

We absolutely must not forget what this administration did to Senator Padilla, because it tells us what they are willing to do to us.

Markwayne is overcompensating for something

anyone heard from Maureen Dawson lately

I know a lot of people just don't really know much about foreign cities, but please imagine how it would go if someone told all of NYC to evacuate "immediately," and then add two million more people to that scenario

It’s nice knowing that whatever’s going on in the world that we have a team of malicious idiots on it

This is obviously ridiculous but it is kind of bleakly funny that this advice more or less has the same beats as advice about what to do if you encounter a bear in the woods, just in terms of the unknowability of the other party. "Make yourself appear larger and the cop will usually run away."

I once had a suburban cop deploy a fucking LRAD at me with next to no warning for being in a park fifteen minutes *before* closing

Very cool that several people who used to yell at me in DMs for being too mean to Facebook are now running some sort of extralegal posse informally deputized by the actual United States Army.

sure, the world is going up in flames, there's unrest in the streets, and America has become a global punchline, but at least Trump voters made the handful of trans athletes in the country feel extra bad

Remember all the assholes in 2003 who insisted that we’d be greeted as liberators and called you anti-American for opposing the war and then changed their minds many years later to pretend like they always opposed the war? They’re doing the same schtick again.

Apparently cops saw Vance Boelter sitting in his faux cop car near another Minnesota state rep’s home an hour before he murdered Melissa Hortman and her husband and those cops just let him go. www.cnn.com/us/live-news...

stealing our money from us and ruling over us like conquered territory. intolerable.

Can’t believe nobody wants to go to a soccer game to be kidnapped by ICE

The Minnesota shooter apparently used data broker websites to find the home addresses of the people he shot and murdered. Congress has had years to do something about data brokers and they've sided with the tech lobby over and over again. Their inaction is deadly.

A top staffer to Sen. Tina Smith emailed Sen. Mike Lee’s top staffers on Monday about “how much additional pain you’ve caused on an unspeakably horrific weekend” Full emails below

The regime has posted signs at Manzanar, the WWII concentration camp for Japanese Americans, asking visitors to report "negative" historical interpretations. Hard to imagine a positive interpretation but it's probably just an excuse to shut down the park. www.sfgate.com/california-p...

If Biden announced a deal claiming that the Prime Minister of the UK had the authority to act for the EU and then dropped the documents on the ground Astead Herndon would have turned it into a six-figure book deal within 24 hours

The advice in this article simply isn’t true in our current environment. The expert quoted here: “And there’s nothing wrong with asking for some identification. A real-life police officer is going to be more than willing to take that extra step to identify themselves.”

This is continued journalistic malpractice from the @startribune.com normalizing a violent white male suspect. He owned a private security company called Praetorian Guard, traveled overseas to preach against abortion and LGBTQ+ people, and attended a bible college that preaches "violent prayer."
