I liked 1 a lot, but it’s also a 50+ hour game. I think 2 is designed in a way that you can still really enjoy it without 1, but if you’re more interested in getting some detailed background of the characters, you’d probably want to start from 1. So kinda depends on time/how much backstory matters

the SSS is such an improvement to the emails in DS1, too! every time I got an email I’d be like, I ain’t reading all that 😭 but I love checking the SSS!

i personally think the story telling strength in Kojima’s games has been the bonds between characters, whereas DS1 was a lot of “hi I’m so and so and this is my story.” Even mgs4 had that with the beauties. But the bond between Sam, Lou, and Fragile is very powerful.
