i imagine the goal isn’t converting diehards. humor lowers defenses, repetition builds memory, and packaging it like a late-night bit makes complex issues stick. it also helps build reality consensus, which is crucial in a media landscape where people can’t even agree on what’s real.

there's been an intense campaign to dehumanize trans people from the right, a campaign in lock step with rolling back ALL CIVIL RIGHTS. yet it is the marginalized ppl asking for rights that are critiqued and centered; not the cruel bigoted denial of those rights (just to exist!) by those in power.

there’s plenty of disagreement on bluesky, just with less death threats and racist dogpiling. twitter isn't the model to copy. every social media site doesn’t need to be right wing debate club. it can be a place to talk about interests and hobbies like normal people.

bluesky's DNS verification is already a solid, decentralized solution to prove your identity. it's clean, effective, and doesn’t rely on arbitrary status symbols. bluechecks just import the same petty elitist baggage that made twitter (in part) a real shithole.
